yes, probably not fair to compare to modular, especially if it’s hardware. Total different goals, beasts and costs.
I would also prefer a less modal mod matrix, but how to represent all the mod sources in the main window ? It would be quite cluttered or very tiny. And if you a trackpad or a mouse wheel, you can drag fast moves of values very easily.

I just use software these days (and some cost me just a few dollars like Drambo)
However, anyway no problem in the software world to combine Plasmonic with additional midi-retrigger options.
These days I also mostly just save a DAW patch (in my case Logic) instead of saving presets in the synths. Sometimes I forget that and wonder where are my preset, then I realise I mainly use my DAW format for these since there is no reason to just use one tool anyway, also not for one specific sound, where Plasmonic would be mostly just a part of a sound.

Different workflow. I mainly use the standalone version, triggered by Reaktor seqs or hand played. Sometimes in Live with M4L triggering. I often avoid DAW because in this case I tend to overuse plug-ins effects, which is another exercise than creating nice sounds just with ian instrument IMO. But every workflow is good if it fits you I guess

I didn´t know there is a standalone version as well. Nice to know since its a rare feature these days.

Since a right-click pops up the matrix, then a right-click drag up should just assign the mod and change value...

It couldn't really be much faster, you just right click on what you wasn't to modulate and then drag the slider of the modulation source the amount you want? Given that you will almost always want to set a modulation source and an amount of modulation, I cant actually think of a faster way to achieve this.

You don't need the green dot things at all other than for looking where modulation has been applied.

You can only modulate one target at a time with the mod window. If I select Env B, it will highlight the targets modulated by Env B... but there is no way to edit the mod depths while Env B is selected. So I have a preset right now that has Env B modulating HF Damp, Resonator Mod and Osc A level. If I want to edit 2 of those targets in relation to each other, I right click on parameter, open up the mod window and adjust depth. Then I have to click to close the mod window and then right click the other parameter to open the mod window again and adjust the depth... and so on. It is kinda tedious.

I would like to be able to select the modulator (say EnvB) and maybe using the Alt key or something, adjust the mod depths of the parameters modulated by Env B without having to open the mod window repeatedly.

The retrigger option is really nice but the sync goes not fast enough for me.

You can set up to 1/128 (button Straight - BPM Settings)

Not convinced yet.
So far, I just parsed through the presets, and to my ears they all have the same color in sound - and I do not find them very inspiring.
I will continue to play with it, changing parameters to see the effects. But so far I regret buying it.

Maybe he was hoping the other 140 patches not in the demo would have inspired him.
I too was tempted to do that, till JL's video above then I realise it really is not for me.

Physical modelling synths have 'a sound' (even hybrids) and I guess you either like it or you don't. Same with FM, PM, WT and VA I guess...Personally I love PM, probably why I have Chromosphere, Noisy and Plasmonic

And. I love the bio and arovane patches in the demo. Just dont know how many of the 200 are theirs

Am I just too stupid to disable note triggering, or is there a bug that you can't disable it (only use a pulse to trigger e.g. the impulse sample)?

You obviously have more will power than me....I was going to resist but there are so few synths really built from the ground up for MPE and this one also works great with the Touché (as well as MPE) - the 4 cc's mapped to the first 4 macros seem to yield good results for most pre-sets (and you only have to set it up once!). Personally I think it sounds great with a good reverb after it, but of course its all personal taste!
