I have it on pretty good authority* that this is an issue similar to the Fruity Loops / Froot Loops trademark fiasco a while back. This time it's R.J. Reynolds Tobacco vs Camel Audio and the issue at hand is the "Camel" moniker (it's pretty easy to confuse cigarettes and VSTs). Until the case has been decided, CA's lawyers have recommended that CA cease trading under the moniker "Camel". Depending on the outcome, we may yet see them resurface as "Dromedary Audio".
Also re the NDA's and why we aren't being told about the NDA:
The first rule of the NDA is: You do not to talk about the NDA.
I though everyone knew that.
*This may be totally made-up

I wonder..... If Camel Audio has been bought, how does that pertain to licensing agreements made before they were bought?

I'm too pudgy, unless they are the three-sided lite versions.hibidy wrote:Spelling/schmelling. Have one of my special triscuits...
I think Camel had one of those on CMdvd, and maybe some content on top.

Agreed. I would rather slit my wrists than do business with IKM again.gamecat666 wrote:urrggh, I wouldnt wish that on anybody. Anyone but them!Teksonik wrote:Since we're playing the speculation game I'll play along. I'm sure this must have been speculated at least a few times already but if there is a buy out IK Multimedia might be a likely suspect. They certainly have the resources and the fit might be good given the iOS apps and the fact that IK doesn't have a synth like Alchemy. I'd have mixed emotions if that did happen but it might benefit all concerned.....even the end user. Or it could be a complete circle f*ck.....who knows....that's my love/hate relationship with IK.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Alchemy, along with Animoog and Gestrument have been my go-to partners in sonic crime for a couple of years. Alchemy remains, with Absynth and Reaktor, my favorite creative software tools. CamelAudio: great tools and great folks.
Perhaps, CamelAudio's entire stable has been, overnight, converted to legacy status. It does seem there could be a big reset and some positive news about transfer of IP in the future.
I have a hope, rather than a speculation. If Apple were to absorb Alchemy, would it be then likely that they are looking for a flagship music making app for their big screen iPad due next year?
Alchemy's desktop version begged for a deeper implementation of a touch-based interface on the iPad. Imagine having (something like) Lemur or Konkreet Performer tricked out to control--on a super-sized iPad--the very rich array of controls and parameters embedded under the surface of Alchemy's desktop UI. I'm dreaming of having Alchemy's full engine running on an iPad with a mind-blowing touch UI.

maybe this is due to cakewalk / gibson buying them out and next sonar x4 will include alchemy plus several libs.
