as far as I can remember, it's always been possible to have older versions of live installed on the same machine (though they might not be compatible with the current OS).

Yeah with the point releases it definitely gave/gives you the option (i.e. the screenshot at the top of the post here - https://www.reddit.com/r/ableton/commen ... ng_update/ ). I was expecting the same choice when installing 12 but it just 'silently' installed it as a new install (and then copied across all the preferences etc. from my 11 setup)

Just in case anyone else wastes too much time on it, on Mac OS Apple Silicon anyway if the Live 12 beta is still in your Applications folder, attempting to authorize the 12.0 release will result in it opening up the beta.

This is what the pop-up windows tells you but it's not what it's doing ....It just works anyway....

In my case it kept re-authorizing the beta, until I put the beta in the trash, then it authorized the released 12.0. Funny that we had three different experiences with it..

Yep same here. But solved it by trashing the beta.

Longterm Windows Live 11 users (i.e. those that have installed the many updates since 2021) might want to check their Add/Remove Programs / Apps & features / whatever-it's-called-now list after installing Live 12. I had about 20 entries, most of which seemed to uninstall almost immediately but a few took a couple of minutes to run - I ended up gaining around 50gb afterwards !

People may find this useful for all the new 12 keyboard shortcuts in one document some kind person has made (buy him a coffee!)

Not just Win11, I know it happens on 7 and 10 as well. Some weirdity of the Ableton installer for update versions.

I just gained 6.58 GB by uninstalling an old Live 11 entry and leaving the most recent Live 11 entry alone.

Thank you. :tu:

I think this is very useful. Is there anyway to make the spreadsheet accessible? I'd love to just make it one row for live since I have 12 and windows only. Thanks!

EDIT: Just realized you didn't make this thanks for the link all the same.

Irritating installation. I installed it on my win10, where live 11 works flawlessly. It installs, but when i want to start it, nothing happens.
I even made a fresh install of win10 on another internal harddisk of the same PC. Same result, live 12 install, but later, cannot start it.

Any Idea?
