What about this theory: NI realises that Massive sales go back, people still rave about it and there is a tendency to not trust synths which are older than 4 years or so. Time to get the owners and lovers on the boat again...
Then they coded like hell, the plan: Massive new filters (zero delay anal ouge). The synth is ready, still a subtractive east coast EDM style design, they send it to the top sound designers and they start making presets... But no preset there which could not have been done with the old Massive as well... They imagine the shit storm after all that hype. They have to add something specular and finally decide to support MPE and get Parisi to play some demos... Parisis schedule does not allow to be involved earlier.... etc...
