V1 has been waiting in the shadows for a while now and I was hoping that V2 might offer a more eclectic range of sounds but up until now all I've heard are sounds that focus on a more digital somewhat in your face collection. All pretty good but if that's it then not my cup of Bovril.

There are also a few real drums.
Sometimes I only use kick drums and snare and combine it with another drum Vsti. Avenger offers a whole lot of drums in the factory library snd slso some special ones in xps like for instance Hiphop, Dystopia, Acid Breaks etc with loops/sequencer and single drums.
Afaik pluginboutique has some expansion sales right now

Avenger offers almost endless features to create your own sounds and too include your own samples or wav files, it's not limited to edm&co!

I don't know about the drum loops since I haven't bothered to check them out but VPS Avenger 2 is capable of a wide range of sounds that are not at all related to EDM.

People seem to be fixated on AV2 being an "EDM machine" and while it can certainly cater to that genre it's a very feature rich and capable synth that will work well for many genres.

It just depends on the person making the patch.....

Sure it can do more. But for VPS it's a matter of marketing.
Keep in mind EDM producer are the target.
At the opposite. Spectrasonics the target are the player and composer. (live set list, midi instant capture, standalone apps)

The first part with synth pad is edm? Ok, learnt something new. For me it's rather film music. Maybe you could also watch what is shown (analog and some old synths, real percussions instruments, drums, real piano, real electric bass, real double bass etc everything something you would not necessarily expect in edm) and also listen to the spoken words!
And of course they mention edm, why shouldn't they? It's a genre Mr. Schleis is very familiar with, why hiding it?

Imagine an electric guitar is not just for Jazz/Blues/Rock&Roll anY more, some people have found out, you can also use it for Funk, Pop, Soul, Heavy Metal and many more genres!

Just purchased, but when installing I noticed it wants to overwrite the original folder? Does it still keep the old version of Avenger intact? I have waaaaay too many projects on the line to overwrite the original flat out with no fail safe.

Anyone have any insight?

Well I'm not an "EDM producer" and I do claim to be a "player and composer" so their marketing is working.

At any rate VPS Avenger 2 is capable of an incredibly wide range of sounds.

Here's a few patches. Most of them are not aimed at EDM producers.

I can switch here Avenger 1 and 2 by just replacing the .dlls and restarting the daw
of course Avenger 1 will display, that the init preset is 2.0 and cant be loaded, but it works nonetheless.

if you resave a 1.0 preset with 2.0 it should be clear, that this wont open anymore in 1.0
