yap... :p

personally i'd much appreciate it if you'd all stop bumping this thread and stop giving me little heart attacks.. it hurts!

given the excellent quality of the two prototypes he's mp3'ed and the minimal process necessary to compile and distribute synthedit .dlls, i think it's safe to conclude that guido is otherwise engaged.

:p
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Ok, well, 1.5 months since his last post. Maybe he's just enjoying summer in italy. You know, that could make up for quite some fun.
We'll see...

I don't think he's teasing us. I think he is working on polishing the sound of the sax model. That is indeed hard work.

There are three possibilities. 1 - he's having a life and enjoying a holiday. 2 - he's working on polishing the instruments. 3 - some big boy has made him an offer he just cannot refuse and he's been bought out.

Given this day and age, 3 is likely. However, 1 and 2 are also very likely too. So it's 33% for 1, 33% for 2 and 33% possibility for 3.

If we don't hear from him in the not-too-distant future, and if the instruments in Arturia's BRASS, particularly the sax, improve dramatically, then it's pretty safe to say...well, you know.

You know that this sax plugin is kinda like russian submarines, you know they exist but you haven't seen 'em. :D

Hey,
no big boys out there made me any offer, I'm not enjoying holydays because I'm still at work 10 hours a day, I'm not working on the sax plugin because...

because:
1. I have not enough time, and space, and silence, and quiet, and concentration, and all the good things one needs to do such a job...
2. My fear is that once I release the plugins many of you could be highly disappointed.. kind of "what? all this long wait for this shit?"... I think you overestimate me...

my apologies...

Post

aw :(

No worries, Guido. Glad to see nothing serious has happened to you at least!

Nah, everyone is already pretty damned happy with what you've already done!

Enjoy life and don't work too hard =)

Guido,

Great to hear from you! How is it going? Hope you're holding up under the work pressure :o

Emulating something as richly expressive as a saxophone was always going to be an open-ended task, one which someone with the finely tuned ears and perfectionism you have will almost certainly never be happy with. And I guess there will be other 'golden eared' sax players who will make unfair comparisons with 'the real McCoy'.

But, if the mp3 demos are anything to go by, you can say that this is a highly expressive and rich sounding instrument in its own right. And I think that's maybe how you should 'market' it.

As far as the 'big boys' go, I guess there is not a lot of interest in such highly expressive virtual instruments, which by virtue of their flexibility limit their market to a select few capable players. Maybe if you could approach some distributors you might get some positive feedback though? Music shops are crazy enough to stock trombones, and Joe Public would be hard pushed to get a note out of one :)

Suffice to say, the mp3s I heard were some of the most expressive I have ever heard out of a VST instrument, and I hope and believe that the KVR army of synth-lovers will appreciate this.

Hope to chat soon...

Hi Griels,
you must be a Poet... I don't know exactly what or how, but I can see some poetry in your words... You just found the right words for the right moment :)
Thanks, I'll see what I can do with the sax plugin.

That's developer stage fright, Guido. You have nothing to worry about.

yeah cause theres so much competition from all those other physical modeling sax's now.....

see, this is what i was talking about before, its the CURSE of acoustic physical modeling.

korgs whole thing went away.

yamaha still has vl70m cause the windsynth players wont let them discontinue it but the plugin version just faded out of development. there was only a w98 dx thing i never got to try. never a vst.

its been like 10 years of frustration for me.

well its an excuse not to buy a laptop for awhile.
