I downloaded something called GIMP that lets you see the bitmaps that the Bristol synths use. Was not impressed. They are faithful to the original synths, but some look worse than some SE skins I've seen. Can't imagine what they sound like.

well, the idea with bristol is that it's a modular...you have a universal engine apparently that is common to most of the synths (just like the real ones) and apparently you can load as many synths as your computer can handle...by sharing the same engine.
i dunno, all i have that works is kind of an enigma...
the actual bristol stuff i have is just source code, but it was apparently bundled up with some other synths that were ported to windows....maybe by a developer who forgot to remove them when he uploaded it at sourceforge?
beats me....
i'm not enough of a geek yet.

dunno if it can be useful, but just to have some sort of "base" for this thread and the relative subject, i just created a yahoo group
that way some files can have a "controlled" availability, so people wont have to ask again whenever a temporary upload vanish out..
or anyway we can even chat about craps there as well, who cares
it doesnt cost me money after all
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/raidersofthelostvst
any advice for improving it or eventual help is welcome, keep only in mind that i will be VERY busy in the future months so it may happen from time to time that i cannot check msgs and stuff for days, be patient pls

i found the page for all them freekin mystery synths !!
(viper, etc)
http://www.pcpages.com/oscillasoft/
they have a fully functioning non crippled donation ware audio/midi sequencer i'm downloading now...
and they have vst's and soundfonts.
it's a little weird getting to the downloads...don;t use, say, aol////and don;t try and use a download manager.
when you click the link, two pages will pop up...one giving a 404.
close it, and the download link is behind.
i second Dreaddd's nomination if i can be vice president.
i've always liked vice.

good links!
i'm seeing a lot of stuff i lost years ago.
Dreaddd...how about waybacking alphakanal.de?
thanks to all who are keeping this thread alive, and all the cool developers missing and not who have made this possible, especially those like Fortune, Vera, Ian, and Mark for being so unbelievably fuckin' cool!

also found this site...
a stinkin' plethora of stuff from i believe poland, and a shit load i haven;t seen other places...
http://freemusicsoftware.net/en/plugins ... d_-33.html
they have all kindsa stuff there, this link will give ya an in tho....it's where i have left off for now.
i believe i am almost up to 1500 of these puppies now.
