Thanks guys!

The FSU tracks were done with a Virus TI running thru MF-102 ringmod, Sherman FB and OTO Biscuit. The drums were made with Stylus RMX.

Fair enough. My goal with the original algorithm compliment (Large Room, Medium Room, Bright Room, Large Chamber) was to provide full fidelity room simulation in the psychoacoustic sense. My quote on the web page was based on this goal:
An algorithmic vision of perfection and precision. It's Grade A class, Number One in its division.
Of course, this has more to do with me being on an old Beastie Boys kick at the time than any true claims of perfection, but it did describe my original intentions.
but damn if these new algorithms don't! Luckily I should have pay day soon. :)
That makes me happy. I feel like I loosened up with the Dark algorithms. Instead of aiming for perfection, I decided to try for awesome, which can be a lot more interesting than perfection. The Dark algorithms are noisy, and can get pretty grainy...and the vast majority of users prefer them. Narcissus is by far the simplest of the VRoom algorithms, and many people have told me it is their favorite reverb mode.

I'm still learning about all this stuff - both from a technical perspective, and what people like to make music with. I'm happy that I have an outlet (VRoom) to try out my ideas as I develop them, and I'm very thankful that there are people out in the world who can use these algorithms in their own work.

Here's the track: Disarticulation

or the thread for the track: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=328881
I like that! A grand showcase for the big spaces VRoom can do.

Sorry if I've missed it somewhere in this thread, but what's the best way to map a midi controller to valhallaroom? Mapping in Live or other techniques that directly control parameters don't work for the non-linear ones because they are scaled in the GUI rather than from the parameter (so about a tenth of the mapped knob or fader is a huge amount of the intended range of control).

And a request for future plugins is that the scaling should be done to the parameter rather than to the GUI control so that this problem doesn't exist.

Post

+1 to what Contrast said, just found this the other day. Don't have access to the main comp so I couldn't say which parameters are this way, but I think there's 3 like that. Makes me wonder how many other VSTs are like this.
ps I grew up on 50's-70's National Geographics and the VR gui makes me think of those many NASA articles, specifically the early 60s issues, Mercury through Gemini. They put me in a great mood, and VR does the same! RIP Gus Grissom.

Damn, I'm torn! Eareverb or VR?! I think I might be slipping over to VR because it's less expensive...

You know very well what the answer is. Yes! ;-)

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Sean,

will there be Lock feature for size in future updates? or maybe a size selection of percents (10/20) ect :)

Probably not. I think that the 1.0.8 update will be the last major ValhallaRoom update for a while. I will be releasing a minor update to deal with a few minor RTAS issues, but this will probably be 1.0.8.1, for OSX only (the Windows RTAS doesn't have the issues IIRC).

Don Gunn posted an audio example of a single note from Symplant being processed by the Nostromo reverb mode in ValhallaRoom, with lots of automation:

At this point, the "Room" aspect of ValhallaRoom has been left far behind.

The new reverb modes are more focused on less realistic sounds. Having said that, I've heard from people that are using the Narcissus mode for snare reverbs. So it all comes down to how you set up the parameters. The Early section can be used to transform the grainiest of reverb modes into something much smoother.

Another example, this one from Sampleconstruct, using Shimmer and VRoom in conjunction. This was posted in another thread, but I wanted to put it here as well, as it shows off Nostromo in action.
