I believe this update was meant to address the Cart management, with the .9+ updates set to address sound and related features.electro wrote:The Breakpoint parameter on Dexed is still different from the breakpoint parameter on the DX7.

Well, yes and no. Add tabs to get current GUI x8 and a new routing matrix to handle the outputs, some more cart tweaks for the patches and slight tweaks/options to the engine too...this one seems to be fine tuned specifically towards authentic DX7 sounds, any reason the TX816 spiced version shouldn't reach the same degree of detail as well? And what else?electro wrote:TX816 is nothing more than a DX7 x8
All that means is 8 MIDI channels corresponding to 8 mono outputs.
My point being, this can be taken further to any direction and like fischkopf mentioned, others may take the challenge too. But when you already have set clear goals, you got to stop adding stuff at some point, no matter how useful and neat, and say this is it. Now if the dev would say he would go further, that would be a different thing but again, I think he has already made it clear what this is going to be?
Afaik, Shioitor was delayed for years while more things were added. The end result was quite a bit more than what was originally being modelled and many do like it, but I liked TAL approach way better. Few reasonable additions but mostly as simple as the original. Of course the same could be said here too about some of these requests. Luckily I'm not the one deciding about that and while I'd like to see this finished soonish, dev will decide that and what ever time it takes, that's what it takes. I'm already happy seeing what we're about to get.

In the "PARM" section there's a button to show the keyboard.LAGinz wrote:Sometimes I see a keyboard at bottom of GUI and sometimes I don't. What is trigerring it appearing and/or disappearing?

No but there will be a dedicated website for Dexed... so some parts of this type of info will be available on site.Agility wrote:Is there a manual around for this at all?
Please explain what is different.electro wrote:The Breakpoint parameter on Dexed is still different from the breakpoint parameter on the DX7.
Sorry no, there is no "audition switch" in Dexed and for me this would be somewhat annoying to reset the DX7 content each time I double click on a cartridge by default.electro wrote:Can you make the top half of the cart manager auto-transmit to the DX7 for real-time patch auditioning?
Exactly... I want to keep release cycles short and restrict the set of goals to be sure I can achieve them in a timely matter. That's the way Google release software and as a "open source" project I think can follow this model.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I believe this update was meant to address the Cart management, with the .9+ updates set to address sound and related features.

Thanks ! What do you mean by "Auto-touch controlling the same parameters" ?rootberg wrote:I just wanted to say (again) how much I love Dexed.
Still High on list of improvements:
Auto-touch controlling the same parameters as on the original.

I've read (on vintagesynth.com that the dx7, and even the 4op dx27/100 had after touch). I would presume that we should be able to get Dexed to respond to autotouch to get vibrato, changing lfo rate or similar. But I don't know enough about the hardware to know which parameters where actually controlled by autotouch. Shouldn't that info be available in the original sysex-files?
Tested v.0.9 now, the cart manager rocks! Would it be possible to change patch by single click rather than double click? Anyway, awesome job, Dexed is a true gift.

@rootberg: The term you're probably referring to is 'aftertouch'.
"Autotouch" is a DIY word, it seems, with no recognised meaning…

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I've also noticed a small GUI-mistake. You can see the "transparent" layer at the bottom of the GUI.
