Which reminds me- I dusted off CamelSpace the other night and remembered why it was fun. Maybe I'll bust out CamelPhat tonight.

Absolutely. We who get the most buzz from Iris also get most annoyed with Izotope. Otherwise wouldn't care, y'know?

I get to explore it and the content. For the sale price and the group discount, it was definitely worth the price. I still have Alchemy 1 and all of the expansions...
Indeed. Enjoy your 'buzz'! For the current sale price and all of the included 'content' (which many v.1 users paid extra for) it is worthwhile [IMHO] and a potentially "fun" exploratory expenditure.

I did some work with a film composer this summer and he got me hooked on Iris 2. Was super stoked when it came up and sale and I finally got a copy of my own. Only bummer is the weight of the processing. Getting clicks in PT 12 with only one instance running in a bare session with a 512 buffer. I run a Quad Core 2010 Mac Pro with 16 gig of ram. Maybe it'll behave better in Logic or Live.

One thing that I did notice is that the samples are in .WAV format. Not so for Iris 1. That means I can use them lots of other places easily.
I spent a little time with it last night and didn't hit a single patch that used AT. Seems most use MW for filter cutoff as well. No biggie, but they could have shown it off a little better. Regardless, it was a step up and there's plenty of potential there. Likewise, it's output can be turned into something completely different (like any VSTi) by following it with some of the trillion VST effects that wait in my machine.

That's really the only reason why I haven't taken the plunge yet, even with all of the great deals. love Iris 2, but my computer doesn't share the same position. My fault.. I know..

What it really needs is a return to compatibility with Iris 1 presets. In fact they should dump Iris 2 and go back to developing where Iris 1 left off.

LOL - oh come on, that train departed one year ago and never returned to the station.

the biggest thing would be time stretching like simpler 2 now has
that and midi mappable loop markers and scrolling sample start points
again like simpler has

I'm still laughing, or remiss depending on the time of day, at the fact I bought the damn program for $249. My primary host, Apple/Logic purchased a better solution (Alchemy,) and it was released via a free point release. Point release!

As everyone knows (unless they've been living under a rock,) Logic is the best deal on the planet for us Mac owners, with a $199 price tag. 14G of the 50g download is comprised of Alchemy samples for over 3000 presets.

Just open any edition of Future Music and you'll see just how many producers use Logic as their primary DAW. Just this month, a tribute to the 808/909, there are four features that include Logic as the host, all of which use many of its included plugins, such as the compressor, channel eq, tape delay, etc.

If you have a Mac, bypass this "deal" and buy the best deal.

60 pages thread is way too long, and I am sure I missing the answer: is it good synth? Should I get it?

Also... did somebody says- it loads samples in .wav? Does it mean I can load any samples in .wav format?

Thank you.

You can load .WAV samples in both 1 and 2. The factory and expansion libraries for Iris 1 are in a format that is protected. Since 2 comes with all the stuff right out of the box, they don't have to protect paid expansion sounds (I guess).

It's actually not protected, if you right click on an Iris preset -> show content you can access the wav samples directly (shhh, don't tell anybody).

That of course only counts for patches which have the samples embedded via the export function, I think the factory content links to separate sample folders though, in my patches I always use the embed-function.
