Your points are well taken... At this point, I am as surprised as anyone with the difficulties we are encountering. And it is no longer a matter of beta testing anything.
I think a number of us feel that this EQ is good enough to get right. And that is what I'm doing. Forget products... our business model began with System 5000, and then System 2000 -- well sealed environments and well known to us.
We made the blunder of venturing out into the wide world of unknown VST hosts, and that has taken a toll...
My apologies to everyone. I want all of us to end up with something of true value here -- even if we make zero on it. That no longer matters...

Brilliant work - thank you. The VST community is a really mixed bag. There is a lot of noise from kids with PC's who don't really realise what they have. Sometimes I think that anything with a colorful GUI will get praised, no matter how bad it sounds. But there are plenty of professionals who appreciate the ground breaking work that is being done in DSP by talented coders. Much appreciated.

If this is the case, David, then I'll venture to suggest (sooner or later---maybe after all the crashing issues are resolved) doing or subcontracting to someone else (who will keep the code well guarded) to do a GUI for the 4 band that is essentially the same as the 1 band GUI (definitely including the fine frequency control the 1 band has).dbmcclain wrote: My apologies to everyone. I had no problem at all with the 1 band GUI (other than the numbers being a bit small and having poor contrast against the charcoal background). OTOH, it's proving to be pretty hard to get good control with the default GUI in Tracktion 2, due to slider resolution limitations and the somewhat uniform and small work area. Everyone else may have it better, but I think the GUI for the 1 band was really pretty good in terms of functionality and it would please me to no end to have somehting like that on the 4 band. Anyone else agree?
All the same, though, many sincere thanks on the continued effort and generosity. Beta or no beta, if we can ulitmately help you to understand and expand the impact of your technology out in the world at large, then I feel great about helping in that regard.
Dave

I wouldn't call it a blunder at all. Your hearing improvement systems have a narrower audience, but your EQ audience could be quite wide. We all really appreciate the technology and would like to see it's area of applicability expanded. These threads would have fizzled out a while back if that wasn't the case. I think a lot of people are on board to help make it work.dbmcclain wrote: We made the blunder of venturing out into the wide world of unknown VST hosts, and that has taken a toll...

And don't think for a second you are the only developer to have a lot of unforseen problems, even after extensive in-house testing. It happens even to the big boys.
And if people want to still take pot shots at your company and say "the big boys don't release plugins that crash this widely", then I would say back---the big boys don't offer a good chunk of their excellent technology for free and then stick with it to iron it out so it works for everybody. This is an uncommon case and deserves an extra measure of patience and perseverance, IMO.

Yes, I could tell you stories. But for peace sake i won't. David, we can help you with feedback and all that. Call it beta testing or what. I love the sound of this EQ and getting it for free is simply:
All the best, FRitz
In the end will be the word.

There is absolutely no need to apologies! This EQ sounds unbelievable. I have never heard such precision with plugins before. That smearing tin sound which I always get with my other EQs is missing. I've been using quality 4 and warped phase bell and shelfs and they reveal new stuff to me from my sampled SF strings and piano etc. This is like forbidden fruit, so fragile but so beautifuldbmcclain wrote: My apologies to everyone. Get the Energy XT demo then. I mean, it's only good for rendering anyways, so even the eXT demo will do the job.
