Ableton Live 6's "racks" pretty much are a VST equivalent of the Combinator.
not completely.. the combinator also has the 4 programmable knobs and buttons :) oh but wait.. is the rack in Live going to have a similar thing? forgot now

 Obviously, yes

Actually the whole look and feel of it, and all the implementation, is absolutely like Combinator. Setting up velocity splits, assigning the knobs, etc... it like the same thing except the graphics.

That's what I meant before about the Props sometimes influencing what others do. Who would have thought... :hihi:

Well it's twice as many certainly - whether that equates to twice as good is another matter..

Mart.

Good luck. :hihi:
Seems to me things are looking up then :tu:

Seriously though John, are you the only Reason hater left? Where's BONES when you need him? :hihi:
Huh? Just because I have a few minor criticisms doesn't mean that I hate Reason. You seem to be such an obsequiously sycophantic fanboy that apparently even the most minor of critiques upsets your reality.

I wonder how long it will take the props dudes to get around to coding a very simple arp into their synths?
Lets face it, the matrix was ok 2 or 3 years ago but to my mind the functionality of the matrix is well dated.. A horrible little interface imo.
Especially true after dealing with the clarity of Imagelines/Synapses piano rolls.

Well, I do find it to be well designed, user friendly and very stable indeed, unlike most of the other stuff I have tried. If my experience with it makes me "an obsequiously sycophantic fanboy" then

Don't worry, he's called me much worse!

I hear what everyone's saying about limitations. I realise I'm in a minority of one but when I used to use Ableton (which I think is fantastic) and VSTs I was forever downloading and trying out new VSTs and checking out reviews in Computer Music, stuff like that.

Since going to Reason I've found the lack of choice to be strangely "freeing", so I no longer get stifled by which VST to use, or sidetracked like I used to. I do miss the weird thrill of hunting down VSTs to demo, but on the up side I get more music done.

(Now I've just typed all that I remembered I demoed Firebird last week--still an addict after all  )

Instead of picking which one to use, Live or Reason, why not use both? They are a great one-two punch. I have no reason to use Logic even these days...I can do it all with Live running Reason with Rewire. :)

Having said that...I usually drop the final mix into Logic.

Looking forward to Reason 4 already? Have you max. the use of Reason 3 yet? Reason plays like an "instrument". Live is more of a host that supports VSTs.

There are a bunch of "refills" out there that are awsome! eSounds' Gold bundle is a must if you want sounds, sounds, sounds! Then you can layer these sounds in Live...or layer them in Reason then drop it into Live and layer some more...the options are limitless...imagination required though! :)

Sorry.

Actually, I have no idea. I was just trying to make Headquest feel better.

Well, he didn't really seem to take me that seriously anyway, which BTW, was the proper reaction. :hihi:

:hihi: I've been called far worse things  .

In fact, "Reason fanboy" is a refreshing change! :band2:
