That particular poster has a history of posting nonsense, so unless somebody else confirms, i would just ignore it ;)

I can confirm about "dropped notes" that layzer mentioned. In my case, I wouldn't really call them dropped notes, since they manifest more like skipping notes. I wrote to Joachips, and we've exchanged many emails about it, and while I use Orion mainly, my latest testing indicate that the problem is present in Ableton Live as well. Here's how that actually looks:

Those are actual renders, and you can also hear them:
Normal
Orion
Live

From what I understood when I asked Richard about it, he said it's a buffer issue... something about the way the synth processes buffer in chunks... or something like that. Makes sense, considering that during playback the problem ease up the more you lower the buffer - which makes it bearable to work with. However, the problem remains when rendering tracks with TB4005 in it.

JoaCHIP, it makes me really happy that you're investing time to fix this gem, and I'm sure a lot of other people here as well :)

THANK YOU!!! :tu:

hey, thanks for posting this! Joa wants an example, but it really is pretty random on my system how it
drops, or more or less plays the notes out of time as you have illustrated. I wish i could be of more
help as i really like the moog mode on this little guy.

Thanks for the screenshots. It's quite clear there's a timing issue there, and yes, the suspicion that it's buffer related seems pretty plausible. I guess I need to test this again.

Bonus observation: By default, Ableton seems to behave fairly differently than most other DAWs I've tried, and changing the plugin buffer size to "same as audio device" has made it behave a bit more nice on my system - not just with my own plugins but also other developer's plugins. This setting might be worth checking out until I figure out what to do about these lazy notes.

When I talked with Richard from Synapse Audio about that, this is what he said.
Oh, notes at the beginning of a buffer are a major showstopper- this will fail pretty much everywhere, except in legacy Orion versions and FL Studio. All the major DAWs use block-based processing. Low latency is probably the only workaround here, and still not quite right.

The "proper" way to fix this may take him too much time, but he can take a simple shortcut.
Instead of processing say 1024 samples at once, he just splits the buffer into say 8 chunks of 128 samples each. Now he only needs to process Note on/offs belonging to each chunk, which however is trivial, by checking if the note sample time falls within that buffer.
Overall this is a few lines of code only.

I'm not that proficient with Live. Where is that option? Can't seem to find it.

maybe now you will shut your bungle, Bevis.
And this is exactly why most people ignore you.
