what means S.O.B. ?
in the video he is mentioning that again but it is bad to understand what he's saying about S.O.B...

LOL - Yes, they could, but they would not be able to use the look and feel of the beloved Oberheim they were emulating, and that's the idea behind these recreations. What would you think would sell more - a synth with it's own look that the creators announce with a list of features that matched the Matrix-12, but where this one could never be mentioned (although it was modeled), or one which look allow us to immediately recognize what it is?TristezaOrange wrote:GMedia could still make a synth and call it Sons Of Bitches. That'll take care of Gibson.

I'm glad you liked the original, but this is actually an example of the original programmer finding he was in a quiet period for his other (more lucrative) work and getting started on implementing features he'd been thinking about and experimenting with for some time.loungedumore wrote:btw : the impOSCar was just fine the way it was .
Just another example of an ex innovator playing it safe by upgrading a comicial success rather than taking a risk on a new product .
It sort of grew from there, including adding a couple of ideas inspired by the OB8 (no code has been taken from the SOB), and I got so into it that I've not followed up opportunities in my other work because I was enjoying the responses and sounds coming back for the Beta testers and wanted to get it out... in these uncertain financial times it remains to be seen if that was a big mistake.
The truth of the matter is that the existance of the impOSCar 2 has nothing to do with the SOB situation (despite Dave's little windup, inspired largely because he found he could produce OB8 type sounds) so please judge it on its own merits, don't condemn it for not being something else.

(Sigh) Why not try imp2 before slagging it off? Assuming you're true OB fans, you will be pleasantly surprised by one feature in particular...

mmmm...I could preaty much do that on the impOSCar as it was .hakey wrote:That poly-portamento thingy?
What I wanted from the vaporware synth (as it stands) :
the xpanders filters (15 types) - this is number one !
5 envelopes,
4 ramp generators
3 tracking generators
1 lag processor and of course that aggressive brassy sound !

As someone who is coming very late to the GForce party and is just now demoing Monsta and OSCar, I'm definitely looking forward to ImpOSCar 2...the original sounds great, and from all the extra knobs I saw in the screen shot, I gather there will be a number of new parameters for leveraging ImpOSCar's great core sound in the new version.

He's a bloody good patch programmer though.
