What is this rumor based on? :)

It's based on hope :P

However, allegedly, live has been comming up with the new versions every summer AND a slicer has been driven into the abe's heads probably more than any other request.

Apple may anounce LOGIC STUDIO (its not gonna be called Logic 8, but will likely be called Logic Studio given the german version of the Final Cut Studio 2 manual made reference to it), given that they're suspiciously absent from the published exhibitor roster, and may just be under an alias.

Apple is definitely looking to "shock and awe" with the announcement of the next Logic, along with likely some hardware made in conjunction with Apogee, and hence they've been purposely quiet about the successor product.

Logic Studio will be out before the end of the year in any case. And it WILL in fact "rule them all" if the new GUI and workflow ideas in Sound Track Pro 2 and Garage Band are indicators since those apps have EMapple's fingerprints all over them not to mention some of the new plugins like "Delay Designer" in STP2 that shares GUI likeness to Space Designer.

I finally jumped on the Logic 7.2.3 bandwagon myself and said goodbye to Logic 5.5.1 PC after all these years, because I sense Logic Studio is getting very close.

.. ah, you mean "very close" like it always was very close during the last 3 years, or even closer? .. :o

I heard from someone who used to work for Emagic/Apple until last year that "they're dropping features every day". So, can it be that they are streaming down Logic to something that is more straightforward and graphically appealing, in the american way, but dropping things like environment, and all the deepness Logic always had? I fear the next Logic may be no longer "Logic". Sure, that are great things in Soundtrack Pro 2, but...

Have software companies ever released new products at Summer NAMM..? I always thought it was more of a "live music" thing going on there?
