Anywho, other than geeks and network admins, who uses Linux for a living?

In all seriousness, the concerns raised for this project to be "truly platform-independent" have some valid points. VSTGUI is alternative to the official Steinberg SDK (which is Windows-only as far as I know).

....what about SDL?
VSTGUI is part of the Steinberg SDK and has a native binding to the VSTSDK (VST plugin interface). Those plugs run on Mac and Windows. So the toolkit is basicly platform independent. It can easyly used for Audio Unit plugins on Mac too (there are even working examples inside the SDK to show how) and for DirectX instruments on Windows. It should be easyly possible to get it running on Linux too. But possibly there will be little code changes neccessary.

This was only for clarification.

I am still waiting for the release to *prove* that! *smile*

As far I've seen yet, there are ports for the AddSyn, the PadSyn and SubSyn on the way...

So probably there is no new Zyn port necsessary???
I've alot of other projects for porting waiting...

i hope you don't give up on this!!!

Let the WINE coders take care of linux 'compatability', if your work is solid on XP, it will be solid in linux-WINE-wineasio. The 'old' linux version will always be fabulous on a modern linux system with realtime kernel. I noticed the virtual keyboard loses track of which notes
are being played sometimes, jumping around randomely, not at startup, but after some misc. usage.
Thanx for sharing your skills! :) (posting this from a 50 megabyte linux live CD distro, using firefox... 8) Could M$oft even do it in 500 megabytes? :hihi:

I crossed this one a few years, ago.

Many good musicians simply cannot stay behind a screen all day, simply put. The skills erode; the hands and arms do the same. In addition, most people who are good developers do this stuff all day long, yeah? Personally, I do not believe it's physically or mentally healthy to be doing the mouse/keyboard thing all the time. However, I can certainly appreciate good development- don't get me wrong!
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?

Thanks very much for the links.
I'll see what I can do with the latest version.

Hi people,
i am using ZynAddSubFx ver 2008 (by Matterblue) and no problem here, even with complex sound.
I have done a little "dreaming/meditative vocal track" using 4 instances of ZynAddSubFX, a GTG Vsti for drum part and another synth (buzz machine) Guru3 made by Arguru (R.I.P.).
All sequenced/mastered/recorded with BUZE.
Try at this link http://buzzmusic.mccc.com.ua/index.php?songid=9644.

Ciao.

Nice song, really... the "bass" is made with Zyn or with Guru3?

Anyway, what happens now?

Post

Yes, very nice indeed. I never cease to be amazed at what Zyn can do!
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Post

Thanks for the positive comments.
to Boneless :
the bass is Zynaddsubfx, preset 0003-Bass 3_analog_.xiz (in default preset bank/bass), GURU3 is used only for the typical synt arpeggio sound, the other arpeggio pluck/bells sound is always Zyn .
The great vocal pad is a layers made by me using 3 channels with different preset (Zyn is a monster that can layer 16 channels !!!).

Hi Folderol, some time ago i have downloaded and listened your preset , you have done a good work, thanks.

....
I have post here my composition but sorry if this is not the right place !!
....
Anyone have some news on development ???

Ciao - Paolo BHS
