OK Dave, another question:

I'm a registered Tau Pro owner. What are the advantages of Tau 2 over Tau Pro? Would buying Tau 2 be redundant since I already have Tau Pro?

I'm a rabid VSTi collector, but I have to draw the line somewhere!

Tau Pro is a completely diff synth to Tau/Tau 2.

Re the knobs issue: I'll have to look into this - it would appear that the host is telling Tau1's controls how to behave...might be a Mac specific thing. Tau2 uses the same knob code as Tau Pro, so I'd suggest trying the demo and seeing how that behaves.

There's not much crossover between Tau2 and Tau Pro - they are entirely different synths. We polled people and asked them whether or not they wanted the Tau2 model in Tau Pro, and the answer was a pretty resounding "hands off Tau Pro, we like it as it is!"

The plan now is probably to rebrand Tau Pro as some new name, and Tau Mk2 will completely replace the old free Tau, which will completely disappear.

Finally, Tau Pro owners will be offered a very sweet deal on Tau Mk2 - just in case there's anyone who may grumble that they would have preferred the Mk2 model to be integrated into that software...the terms of this deal will be announced at the product's launch.

I have the Tau Pro here and its knobs behave completely different from Tau. That's why I asked in the first place.
I know to most people this must seem pedantic, but I think knob behaviour is an important part of a GUI. I even would like to see the option to adjust the 'dynamic' of knobs, much like you can adjust the velocity responce on keyboards. The only software I know that has this is SoundDiver - can't think of any VSTi with that feature...

The same happens in Windows with FL Studio, when pressing alt the buttons behave in up/down mode (Tau)

Sure - the way the GUI responds to touch is very important. So it's kind of annoying to have the host take over certain functionality and take it out of our control

We'll look into it.

...and if you shift-drag, the resolution is increased. But that's in the code

As I mentioned before, AFAIK this behaviour is in the VST SDK. Many Plugins with default circular knob-movement offer linear movement when pressing the option-key (and vice versa when linear is default). So I guess it's not the host, it's the standard. Not too bad for someone who hates circular movement, though I prefer if one can choose as on Tau Pro.
Even better is the way LinPlug handels it: It's a preference that the plug remembers.
Well.... while we're at it: The Ohm Force people offer the most comprehensive solution, exept for the possibility to jump to a value.

) -> On Tau Pro it's the same: Regardless of what kind of knob-movement you have selected from the GUI, you can always get linear movement by option-clicking...

There's some MP3's from a previous version in a thread elsewhere on this forum. It's been improved a bit here and there since, expect some new audio demos soon.

While im not a fan of muon's plugins.. I have to hand it to you.. those are some of the best softsynth knobs I've seen... they look like ohmforce type knobs
