Amen, brother. My zip program has the ability to turn anything into a .exe and I've always wanted to try and 'fool' people with something. It's that darn extra folder that would give it away. (LOL)

i no use se and sm synth if i can avoid cause they are cpu heavy as fkk [especially synthedit stuff].

It all depends on the modules used to construct it. CK's modules are cpu friendly and so I tend to use them most of the time.

The K1 with its 8 bit waves and no filters had a lot more personality to my ears than the K4 with its 16 bit waves and digital filters.

There is a sampleset for WusikStation with all the Kawai K1 waveforms for just $5 or something like that.

Could someone of you record a short demo so one can hear how it sounds like? Or if there are any youtube videos then please link to some of them.

One synth that really is underestimated is Casio HZ 600. I was overjoyed when I saw the HT 700 emulation Plastique here on KvR, a plugin I use alot. Another plugin that needs more mention is the YMVST. Quality stuff even tho it's made with synthedit.

Here are some lower grade WSA1 mp3's I made a long time ago. I should probably get around to making some higher quality recordings one of these days.

WSA1 Demo - This shows off some of the WSA1's junk percussion / world abilities.

piano-wsa1-mod - A piano patch, that gets it's modeling parameters tweaked.

was-a-harp - Used to be a harp sound, then i started tweaking the modeling parameters.

Ugo's Disturbance. It's not just a loop mangler, it's a weird little granular synth in sheep's clothing.

Firebird. I haven't even upgraded to the + version but I like it quite a bit. All the HCM praise lately is for Gladiator, but I think this one shines as a "simple" synth that's not.

Morphine. It's an uphill battle against Alchemy, and even I would have a hard time recommending it in an either-or situation. But as additive synths go this is still very worthy.

Ogun. I haven't begun to explore its strangeness yet. It's easy to forget it also does resynthesis (in its own bizarre way) and is more than just a gongs-and-cymbals machine. In fact I might spend today trying to learn this beast.

PlastiCZ. Don't know why the kiddies don't love it more.

I love Firebird too, but I'm really getting into Gladiator 2. It's amazing
how deep you can get, and the range of sounds is terrific, from Moog to Casio, to
some really intriguing HCM stuff...

as soon as I saw this thread I thought of ZynAddSubFX. The reason is probably most people complain on its GUI, programming difficulties - these kind of things which I don't get. IMO the GUI is prettier and more readible than many other VSTs, the windowed GUI allows for the insight into the structure all the time (anyway there are two modes for begginers and advanced); the nonskinned GUI feels lightweight. The synth is trully advanced ... I am against "easy to use" solutions

Agree for Morphine, it is very different from Alchemy, thus the tools provided to work in pure additive synthesis mode are handsome and very handy. My dream : exchange presets and communication between the two. (yep I know, not a chance to see it

)

Else I'd say maybe Vaz, Sytrus, Rpcx Blue and Tassman ( And its analog sequel) : All robust synths wich can produce great sounding instruments.

Oh and I just forgot Korg's Polysix : All the praise only goes to the Ms-20, Legacy Cell and Monopoly, wich are great units, but the Polysix is so dead easy to work with, and it always fit so well in any mix. Yep most underated synth : Simple but efficient, a real killer.
