Why are people slating the GUI? I think it looks really good. A way around this is to have an option to change the GUI between two different types. The current one and a new one. The circuitry remains the same only the knobs are moved around to suit other tastes. Just like you have two different sizes why not have two different GUI.

You are entitled to your opinion considering the graphics in the gui. That's cool. I won't comment on that.rsantiago wrote:The GUI is awful. Too big.
But when it comes to size consider this...the trend nowadays is toward larger monitors. As time passes by more and more users will want larger gui's.

To take this away from just being a discussion of the gui (and I'm sorry for stating my own thoughts on that, I should have known better - but I can't erase those now). At the end of the day the visuals don't matter, except in how they provide feedback to the user.
First impressions are that the reverb on this does sound very nice and I like all the parameters that we are given to tweak. I certainly agree with the concept of aiming for something organic and changing as opposed to more static alternatives. Those also have their uses, but I tend to prefer reverbs like this one where the reverb becomes part of the sound and that you can use to carve out a different character to your sound. A lot of reverbs (especially plugins) don't always have that special quality to them. Aether seems that it does.
It seems to me that $150 would be a very fair price if we could achieve that in a group buy. (Of course $100 would be even better) But... what WAS the pre-order price that people got? Just curious. If the gb lowest price were to be say $20 more than what the pre-order special was, would that be enough to keep the pre-order people still happy and at the same time still be low enough to be attractive to the rest of us?
What would that price be? If it was $170, for example, that would still be more attractive than the current $249 that expires in June, and I would still be interested. At the same time at $170 I think it might push it into that area where people might have to think twice before jumping in.

This is true regarding bigger monitors, and I have fairly decent monitors as well - even though I still want bigger ones. I think the size becomes an issue for those users who might want to use this on a laptop. But as long as you can choose a smaller variant, which in this case you can, then it shouldn't be an issue.
rsantiago, were you able to switch to the smaller one and was that better?

From the sounds of it, a chunk of people will start to consider purchasing at $150, and will definitely purchase at $100. However, a couple of the pre-sale purchasers have stated that it's not fair. Someone was trying to figure out if there could be any incentives that would make the pre-sale purchasers feel like they aren't getting shafted. No one has responded to that.

Not to proliferate this tangent to the discussion, but I see that all of the elements are just pngs and it appears that the gui can be easily reskinned, so I suppose that those of us who don't like the graphics can put our money where our mouths are and provide an alternative at some point. Render some buttons in a 3D program, use a different font, etc.
Also, (did I read that correctly?) it appears that the demo version uses scaled back image files and not the full res ones of the actual product? That's only pertinent to this discussion in the sense that if so, some of us might not be looking at and commenting on the same thing.
So really... let's just talk about the sound!

If the dev would consider it... Instead of a GB they could just drop the price to $150 for a given time period and forget the hassle of a GB. That might satisfy enough users and keep the early adopters happy as well.aplats wrote:From the sounds of it, a chunk of people will start to consider purchasing at $150, and will definitely purchase at $100. the products are ( somewhat ) competitive , and in the ( relative ) same niche ...
AA had an early adoption price , and then raised the price to their standard ...
then , after some time had passed , they announced a sale , for a limited period ...
iirc , that sale price was a reduction back to the introductory price ...
the time period , W/ demo , allowed for review , and created demand ...
many people took advantage of the sale price reduction ...
early adopters were not punished ...
latecomers got a second chance ...

For some reason it rounds down instead of up! Otherwise it should show 82% and 18% (if it rounded up).aplats wrote:Does this poll ever add up to 100%?
