Well, the content is really great but the presets could have been better so I've updated those more to what it's capable of plus the new content is also great for more guitar, bass and drums. I will say one thing, since it isn't really a secret since I'd been chatting it about it for a long time but one of the things I'm waiting for a certain effects one could use on guitar and bass in particular. I love the internal effects of SampleTank, in fact I think they are some of the best that come with any sample player. But we all know how amazing some of IK's other effects are too. I suppose I could make some presets in AmpliTube that work along with the guitars in SPK but... I wanted to be able to do it a different way. Well, either way, it's a good thing what you guys got and it will only get better and better. I'm not giving up on it. I need Studiophonik too! Believe me it is a great useful tool to have a guitar/bass/drums workstation like that and I have a grand vision for it. Maybe it was overly ambitious I admit but it has its place. For me it is all about the marriage of Sonic Reality dryish samples and IK's lush effects. That is something that can be explored much more than it has so far and it will be (and can be by the user but that's also our job to put in some killer presets).Talvin wrote:Squids, I really appreciate your work and I don't blame you. I am happy with the sounds I got - probably most of us are. It's just that some of us were probably looking for a new product including a lot of good guitars/bass/drum sounds.
You are very good at advertizing your products and that's what you did with Studiophonik. What we got is good, only different from what we expected at that time. And let's forget about the delay as long as we get good offers in the future...Where is SAMPLETANK 3???I only hope it comes out before Germany will be flooded as a consequence of global warming.
Thanks again for everyone's patience. It's a prelude to something that will continue to grow and be more and more useful to you. I will let you know when the next update is going to be. It might not be too far off.

Unfortunately, I missed that first Group Buy. I shouldn't say I missed it....I couldn't afford it at the time. I agree that Triple Guitars for Reason is okay, but if the truth be told....it is not on the same level as StudioPhonik from what I've heard. If I'm wrong on this, please correct me. Another thing is that SampleTank instruments offer a variety of artculations within a single instrument, too. I would like to see that StuioPhonik group buy again. I KNOW I can't be the ONLY person that missed out. Thanks for getting back to me, Squids.

How does the content in the Xpansion Tank 2 drums/guitar/bass collections compare with the upcoming Studiophonik plugin content? Any overlap?

You mean the Studiophonik expanded sound collection? None.thenumber23 wrote:How does the content in the Xpansion Tank 2 drums/guitar/bass collections compare with the upcoming Studiophonik plugin content? Any overlap?

Thanks - though I'm a little confused as I haven't heard the term "expanded sound collection" before. Is that the Studiophonik prelude content or something different?

Would be a great time now to get at least one Expansion Tank as a kind of compensation for those of us who participated in the rare instruments/vintage group buy.
How long have we been waiting to get the rest of our promised sounds (Studiophonik)?
I'd get in the new group buy myself but I think there are just too many overlaps of the sounds I might be interested in. So I rather keep waiting for Sampletank 3.

Actually there's very little overlap between the Xpansion Tank sounds and Studiophonik Prelude. Btw, the expanded sound library of Studiophonik are the extra sounds beyond the Prelude's that make up the whole collection... and yes I am embarrassingly late on that. I don't have a problem with letting all that WERE in the Studiophonik Prelude pick out an Xpansion Tank of their choice for the long wait. That's actually a good idea. But, we can't do that until this group buy is over at the end of next month... but I will target having the expanded SPK library ready by then (or my name isn't Squids!). Then we'll email blast all of those wonderful patient Studiophonik Group Buyers about their choice of Xpansion Tank title bonus AND the extra SPK sounds and I hope that that will satisfy. I really do. I botched that one what can I say? Although there's a kind of esoteric mythic quality to the whole thing... in any case, at that time I will also do something special limited time offer for those that missed that Group Buy as well. No worries. You won't miss out.
By the way, Triple Guitars for Reason is actually pretty darn good. But you don't have the switching pick ups or direct/mic mixing that you do in Studiophonik library and the samples are different. You do find some of those sounds we did for Reason in the Xpansion Tank 2 series however. Acoustic & Electric Guitar Packs in the Xpansion Tank would cover what Triple Guitars has and more.
One last thing I'll say about Studiophonik though... part of it was all about the sounds/samples. The other part was about what you can do with the built-in effects. While you can do some amazing things with the current effects you can imagine this area is going to improve... when it does I think a lot of people are going to be mighty glad they bought Studiophonik sounds - even more than they should be today if they were lucky enough to catch that group buy. I know I've been hinting at that for a long time... oh boy do I know. But, I also know what is being developed and while I can't say specifically I can say that IK, one of the leaders of modeled analog gear, is going to come through big time and when they do... of course SR will be there to make the most out of it. Studiophonik has been a vision of mine for many years and what I had in mind will soon become a more complete reality... maybe not the nifty interface part (although I think we all really liked that.. oh well) but the more important part. The "studio". I'd rather everyone look FORWARD to it than be "waiting for it". I tell you these things because it is fun to know it advance but if it just tortures you then... don't read it! (maybe I should have put that at the beginning of my post... oh well, you read it. Relax and enjoy what you have now knowing that it is going to get better and better... not a BAD investment if you think about it... the GB was only $99 wasn't it?)

Thanks, Squids! Looking forward to that.
As I have many expansion tanks and am still tempted to hop on that train...is there a list of instruments for the new expansion tanks so that we can see which instruments in the group buy are different to those we already have?

All the instruments (parents and children) are listed for each expansion tank:Talvin wrote:As I have many expansion tanks and am still tempted to hop on that train...is there a list of instruments for the new expansion tanks so that we can see which instruments in the group buy are different to those we already have?
