i'd love it ... but not too expensive, please!headquest wrote:While we're doing rank speculation....
I reckon it will be a big virtual mixer - like Reason is a big virtual rack. With Reason as a rewire slave you will be able to use Reason effects throughout, route Reason tracks directly into this mixer application, and record audio as clips directly into the mixer channels, kinda like Live's Session View. You will also be able to edit these in a seperate edit window based on ReCycle.
There. That's my turn. Anyone else?

2 years is not enough time to compete with the current DAWs that have been in production for many years. I do not see them competing with Cubase/Logic/Sonar, despite their many talents

...but not as we know itdjanthonyw wrote:You mean like... DAW software?
Speculating (nothing more!) that it will not have a traditional linear arrangment page, plugin hosting, and possibly not even a conventional sequencer! Just clips, a play order feature, and the chance to record multitrack audio projects using the established Reason effects.
Tomorrow I will be proved wrong.

Just speculation, but I wonder if they've done something to access Reason's Rebirth input machine with their DAW in order to use Reason as a source of processing plugins (Reason users have been clamoring for this one for years).
Or maybe the DAW comes with all or most of the Reason devices adapted as native plugins, while being able to run VST plugins as well. Of course, if that's the case, they could have just called it Reason 5, I suppose.
Although if the demo was running on a Mac my first hypothesis becomes a little dubious. Does Reason even have a Rebirth input machine in OS X? What would it do? Is it possible PH might include a Reason update/patch to make it accept any Rewire device (a la Rewuschel)?
I guess we'll find out the truth soon enough.

Based on the teaser video, in fact I think it could be a new enhanced version of... the "baby jesus butt plug". Who knows

There was some rumour some time ago when Dinosaurs roamed the earth or almost as long ago
...that the reason why the Props were so utterly against adding Audio to Reason was because of an agreement they had with Steinberg. Maybe just maybe their agreement (for how ever many years) has now been nulled and they are free to develop their own full on DAW (with recording)
My take on it...
1. Full Audio recording.
2. VST support.
3. Tight integration with Reason.
4. New FX and new Instruments.
5. More emphasis on Studio use (for the new DAW) to complement Reason for Live use.
6. More dangly wires <g>
Props software is mega stable so it would be very interesting to see if they have produced a Super host like Sonar, Cubase e.t.c with extensive features from the ground up *and* maintained the stability and reliability the props are capable of. That would be some effort indeed. That alone could be a huge selling point for this DAW (or new Reason skin)
Here is a thought...it might even be one of the reasons (no pun intended) why the props update their software so slowly, maybe their resources were being spread across Reason and this new DAW.
Anyway that is my wild speculation post done...

It clearly will be a ReDesign, that Propellerheads hope will ReShape the DAW insdustry as we know it. Of course all will be ReVealed tomorrow.
