Dear forum members,
the last week was a bit of a hectic one for me. The videos I uploaded did gain some interest from you and I was really keen to get the most annoying bugs out of it. Unfortunately tests showed out that Zyklus Improvisor as it stands now is not ready for publication. There are too many bugs unsolved and certain aspects like saving sequences and settings aren't in there at all.
All in all, I feel it's not fair to you to suggest that Zyklus Improvisor is a near by program, but development will go on.
Thanks for all your input and encouragement.

bronswerk,
Thanks for all your hard work on this. I am very
new to Max, but if there is any assistance I can
provide to you please PM me. I'm sure there are
many others here who would do the same.
Cheers,
Scott

List that as "nice to have" feature, don't let that be a show-stopper for publication of v0.1. Looks like you have done a good job already, I think other "bugs" are more important to look after.bronswerk wrote:certain aspects like saving sequences and settings aren't in there at all.
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.

Hi Bronswerk,How long until a standalone. This is a dream device from my perspective.

Can't you just release what you already have and could demonstrate in YouTube, without caring of the rest? Who wants to try it out could have a chance for it and if there are too many bugs, they would stop using it and just wait for the next version to be released. Does this make any sense?bronswerk wrote:Unfortunately tests showed out that Zyklus Improvisor as it stands now is not ready for publication.

If I wanted to make all those modulations based on one initial motif in a piano-roll sequencer, this peace would have taken many hours to be made. With Zyklus it can be made in real-time. Fantastic!

Hi Bronswerk, Im happy to see this is still in development. If a standalone win7 compatable version is in the offing then it would be a great tool for ambient/berlin school/drone music in a live setting. Does it have a latch function so a motif will keep repeating allowing the player to switch to anothe instrument, say guitar to play over the top.

@cosmonauttransfer: A latch function is provided, actually it's the only way how it works at this point. Triggering sequences are done by the run and layer buttons each slot has or (as an option) re-triggered when a new chord arrives (quantized sensitive). The re-trigger feature is much used in the classical demo. If I keep my hands of the keyboard the music still goes on. You can't record other parts or play a solo if it didn't.
@maki: yes, changing scenes would be synchronized.
@sunhome: I really thought about a M4L version, but haven't had the time to investigate this more.
I'm not into issues if it could work on other OS or not. In theory, if Max can work in Windows 7 why not? At the moment I'm redesigning Improvisor. High on my list are storing sequences and settings, midi clock synchronization, ways of handling remote control input. It's a huge job and it better be good, so in the near and not so near future don't expect anything.

I've just seen the classical piece demo on you tube. This software is awesome. A great piece of music that sounds composed, yet is improvised.

I think what makes Zyklus Improvisor most interesting is its real-time modulation capabilities, its way of interpretation of input chords and their application on previously recorded notes.
I would like to learn about those principles, where can I find the most detailed information about the used concepts?
