Anyone have tips on how to get it to be more varied in it's playing when in jam mode? I'd like it to break in with a fill every 4-8 bars or so and mix it up by adding high hat 16ths and stuff like a real drummer would do in a jam. Almost song structured in a sense. I'm having a hard time getting it to play that way.

I recommend you check the R-Fill box to get a repetition fill every time your part repeats. Set the part length to the desired length (4 bars, 8 bars, etc.)
You get best results with part-appropriate performances with the song builder. If you just want to jam on a single part, I recommend you use a drummer who 'likes to jam', such as Aaron or Carter, who have lots of accents and groove changes. Chad can also be a good choice.
Look at the accent tab to see what you can control in frequency and type of accents to fit your tastes.
Another way of increasing jam activity is to right-click on brain knobs like amount etc. and connecting them to "Power". That way, as the song power varies, so does the performance.

Hi Ralph. Some of the Bonzo pack samples (when they are loading - NOT when they are playing back) are spiking the CPU to almost 100% red. There are about seven instances in the Bonzo pack where this occurs. Obviously the loading is too fast to identify which exact samples, but apart from that all seems well. Just thought i'd mention it incase others were noticing similar behviour.
It never happened in Jamstix 2 btw.

I'm having a lot of bugs and general issues. I can't for the life of me get it to produce a natural sounding jam and it seems to frequently crash and bring down Live with it. I get lots of pops and crackles with the UI open. I'm in Live 8.0.5. So far I'm not sure what's better about this update. I feel that V2 was better and more stable... though not that stable.

Please install the 3.0.1 update whiuch improves GUI performance. Please also elaborate a bit on what you are trying to do and where JS3 fails so I can advise on how to get improved grooves.zerocrossing wrote:I'm having a lot of bugs and general issues. Ralph - I probably should have asked this on the Jamstix forum, I did take a quick look to see if the answer was there, but I couldn't find it.
Is there any way (or planned way) to let Jamstix 3 use the Jamstix 2 add-on packs without copying the individual sound files across to the Jamstix 3 library? Duplicating these files takes up a fair chunk of disk space, but at the same time I don't want to remove the files from the Jamstix 2 library so my earlier projects are still supported.
I hope this makes sense; I'll post the question on the proper forum if I don't get a response here.

Jamstix 3 will automatically detect and use sounds installed in Jamstix 2. There is a tool in the JS3 Options to copy over kits, styles and drummers (which are small in size).Blank_Frank wrote:Ralph - I probably should have asked this on the Jamstix forum, I did take a quick look to see if the answer was there, but I couldn't find it.

OK, it appears I misread the installation instructions, I'll take another look. Thanks a lot for getting back to me so quickly!Zauni wrote:Jamstix 3 will automatically detect and use sounds installed in Jamstix 2. Just downloaded the new 3.0.1 demo.
So I uninstalled the old demo first, then reinstalled the new one...
The about box still says 3.0.0! Timing load is still peaking with open gui - no change.

Dang it, old file went out yesterday
Sorry about that! The new corrected 3.0.1 demo will be out in an hour.

Downloaded the new 3.0.1 demo again. The about box now says 3.0.1!
Timing load is still peaking - can't see any change to the better.

What is your CPU, sound card and ASIO latency?

Quadcore 8200 @2.33GHz
4GB ram
ASIO4All
Host: Cantabile Performer
Audio setting: 2x128samples buffer, 44.1kHz (5.8 ms basic latency)
OS: Win Vista 64bit
Jamstix Demo produces about 35% timing load - this is Cantabiles load meter which is very accurate, not cpu hit which is really slow and kind of irrelevant for audio. The spikes occur from time to time (maybe something like every 10-20s or so) pump timing load up to about 350% and create crackles then. This happens only if Jamstix gui is open.
[Edit] Just tired 2x256sapmles buffer... relatively the same result, basic timing load about 18%, peaking with open gui to about 180%. This is a buffer setting I don't like to jam(stix) with my other instruments.
It's not that Jamstix does basically not work but it sucks with open gui! It's disturbing - maybe embarrassing that this is still V3, isn't it?
[Edit end]
I have some other plugins that show different processing needs when having the gui open or closed too - however I can't remember one that affected timing load so significantly. Instead I could find increased cpu load... which isn't that much an issue for me as my quadcore has plenty cpu...
