Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Shouldn't be the volume limit (which does now in iOS 4 apply to all apps instead of just iTunes/iPod as before) but it really does still sound like something in there is blocking the input connection and not the output since you can hear things but get no input. I don't recommend being really aggressive but I'm leaning toward there really being something in there judging from these symptoms.
Tested with 3 different guitar cables - Perhaps i got a broken iRig....

jetrom wrote: Hi Peter, I'm suffering more or less the same problem with my irig. I sent a service request about my irig problem, and no answer was replied. I can't hear my guitar, but metronome and samples can be heard without any issue. I've tested on another iphone 3G, but no guitar sound can be heard though. I'm using OS4 and I've tried everything to make it work without any success. Could you guide me a little bit?, IK multimedia support is not very quick and I need my irig working as soon as possible. Do you have any bug regarding this?, are you planning another application update?.

Thanks a lot in advance.
I have the exact same problem. Got my iRig today and downloaded Amplitube free (for now). I can hear the metronome and the samples but nothing more and i cant use the tuner, seems like there is no guitar signal thru Amplitube... I have iOS4.01, could that be the problem? I have sent an email to the support but no answer yet.. I really would like to try this out now.. (I have cleaned the headset connector)
If this is any help, I have same iPhone OS & a 3gS & it works perfect. JD

My iRig works perfect.. When i pressed in a little bit harder it worked - but its very easy to make the connection drop, so i guess its my headset connector thats a bit bad... Anyway, all in all, it works perfect, to bad i have to work tomorrow :) Thanks for help!

Not sure if u mean INTO THE iPHONE ITSELF... but I have a Speck case on mine & it is kinda thick, and I have trouble plugging most things into my phone. Sometimes I need to pull the corner of my rubber Speck case off. I have even whittles some jack ends down to fit in... LOL, but the iRig fits in tight enough. Glad of that. JD

Great! I know the feeling about wanting to play it. Gave up mine for a while and when I got it back I spent WAY too much time playing with it. :)

Might want to carefully make sure it is actually clean and definitely see how it is seated into the jack. Sounds like the mic/input portion isn't making contact because of one of those two things.

Sure at 100% that the headset is clean and the jack is correctly seated.

The iPad native version of AmpliTube is in the App Store now too for those with iPad. Here's a cool "picture-in-picture" video that creates a looped-style piece, done with AmpliTube iRig (on iPhone):

There's another issue which I've reported on my blog. Not wanting to find fault because it's a wonderful product, I have both the iPhone and iPad versions, but I would be interested n a response from IK on this one, read here

Saw it there first, comments are moderated. The gist is that that's exactly why we recommend (or specify actually) that this is only to be turned on when using low-impedence headphones with a mic (like the iPhone earbuds). Thanks!

Sorry Peter perhaps I misunderstood your reply. I understand why the facility is part of the product, but is the phase issue part of the design? I hope not because wen you plug it into any stereo input the sound is wrong.

So again, the question is 'is the phase issue a design flaw or intentional?'
