By the way, does anyone know how to permanently turn on or specify the quality settings under "Options" rather than having to reselect it on every patch in some sound collections?
There always been a long standing rivalry between the z3ta camp and Zebra camp as to which people prefer and think is better if thats any indication its status among soft synths. Wherever there is a z3ta+ post, zebra is sure to show up or vise-versa in it some way (which happened a few pages ago here I think).
I'm guilty of falling into that debate as well. I think for many, who prefer z3ta+ feel Zebra is a bit overrated and overpriced by comparison. A bit of rooting for underdog factors in as well. Thats not to discredit Zebra. Its a fantastic synth. Still think it priced too high though. It was hard to argue against that point when z3ta+ was $100, let alone $20!
For starters its sounds great and has good effects. It has a gritty, punchy tone that many find pleasing. It loads new wav files which greatly expands the sonic possibilities beyond the great selection of stock waves.what do people find so special about z3ta

Go back one page in this thread (p. 6) and count 7 posts from the bottom of the page. You can install the demo, re-save the banks, and then they will load properly into 1.5.3.RandomWave wrote:By the way, does anyone know how to permanently turn on or specify the quality settings under "Options" rather than having to reselect it on every patch in some sound collections?
And btw, I've never seen Zebra and Zeta+ compared in a thread....ever. And you're probably the first person I've seen who said that Zebra is overpriced. Just sayin'.

whereas for me z3ta was never on either my must have or even my good/nice to have list. But for $20 it was a no brainer...... and zebra if I did not already own it would be on my must have list and well worth the $199...but everyone has different tastes..I think for many, who prefer z3ta+ feel Zebra is a bit overrated and overpriced by comparison. Thanks - I didnt see the connection because the patches loaded in 1.5.3.Go back one page in this thread (p. 6) and count 7 posts from the bottom of the page. You can install the demo, re-save the banks, and then they will load properly into 1.5.3.
Never? Well, I can assure you it has been. Over at many other sites as well like HC. With that said, I fold! That topic is for another day and another thread. And btw, I've never seen Zebra and Zeta+ compared in a thread....ever.
Why resist? Its one of the top rated soft synths of all time and quite possibly soon to be discontinued. Isnt not having the cold sweats at night of regret worth the $20 alone. People will look back at this thread in a few years and wish they knew about it much in the same way they do with things like Ultra Analog no-brainer or the legendary Prodyon Spacehawk DVD fro Wusikstation that sold for$5 which I dont have sadly! I wish Prodyon would bring it back or William would work a deal with them to make it available again for those who are newer to older products on a side note.c'mon guys... stop posting in this thread, i'm trying to resist buyng z3ta+ for $20 Mad ... wow! zeta+ for 20$?? hyper hyper hyper

I already have more than enough synths, samplers and other noisemakers. But zeta+ has a great rep., so for $20, what the heck?
So I've been playing with it since I got it, and it really does sound fantastic. For $20, the way I look at it is, you could pay that much just for some patch banks--and the included patches are fantastic--so it's like getting the actual synth for free.
Cheers

i just deleted 37 free synths in honor z3ta's arrival (well, a few of those i needed to delete before). z3ta does the job of many specialty freebies, and does it better (as a freeware junkie, that's hard to admit).

Can't see why or how...
However back in the day there was a rivalry between Zeta and Rhino - both came out at about the same time, both had six oscillators, both had about the same price...
none of that goes for Zebra.
The difference between Rhino and Zeta is that the Tick didn't stop development on Rhino yet - far from it.

Maybe they will do the same thing when they blow out Rapture 1 for version 2!So I've been playing with it since I got it, and it really does sound fantastic. Thats easy to pinpoint where it stems from. They have both been regarded as top soft synths of all time by many including pros reviewers and both are VAs generally speaking. Can't see why or how... Confused
