I know I am quotimg myself here but does anyone know this? The manual is not clear in this point...

...still stick with it, it's a mixed bag...

Another question: In the TI it works as a VST plugin (with 16 instances/channels) and you only need the USB cable for MIDI and audio data. The same here??

The TI does not transport each part's audio separately to the DAW, you need to premix this in the pugin. But basically the TI integrates midi and audio as a pure software VST synth does.

Many other integration is only done on the midi level, means the plugin communicates via midi and can edit synth features but audio needs to be looped via a separate interface.

I will not say that the TI system is the best - it's somewhat aged which might have to do with the USB 1.x like speed limit - it's just one that does integrate both, audio and midi.

This type of HW integration also has shorcomings. For instance you can not do non realtime audio rendering... nothing in life is for free, isn't it?

If you say so, Novation. It sounds as "good" as your other synths.

Just been reading up a bit more on this synth.. anyone from Novation come on here?
I'd like to program a bank of sounds for it..Im pretty well impressed with this although i wasn't to begin with, mainly price wise.

I'll still argue that the Supernova, Nova and KS series had bloody frustrating modulation controls, but they were all excellent synths with a great "liquid VA" sound. Not analogue, something a touch more digital but not clinical. Novation had something good going.

As for the anti/pro-multi-timbral argument... what if you you want to layer parts? Sure, I don't use the 4 parts on my KS for sequencing now, but to build larger sounds. To be fair, this Ultranova is coming from a good pedigree so one part of a Nova/KS sound can often sound BIG.....

I just bought my 4th (yes, 1-2-3-4!) Nova laptop and coudn't be happier.
Layering them is like ... heaven. Novation's "liquid VA" is superb. Big and "rounded", not harsh. So now i have a 64-voice polyphonic Nova with up to 24 multitimbral parts, or a "72 osc" per voice synth by layering all parts without using any unison function, or any other crazy combination i can think of ... and i haven't mentioned the gorgeous filter overdrive yet, or the 24 arpeggiators.
So come on, Novation! Make a rack mounted or desktop (keyboardless) Ultranova with at least 4 parts and 4 arpeggiators and i'm sold. Don't know how many of them will buy, though ...

I just sent Novation an email with links to my work, Waldorf,Presonus,Waves etc, maybe i'll get a reply and fill this synth up with more great sounds Dave

I've heard about this before. But they have always answered me and have done so within a couple of days. The last time I got an answer from them was monday when they replied to a question about my Supernova which I sent them last friday.

Strange that the quality of their support seems to be so uneven.
