Umm, Angus is an old member of KvR. Surely he can browse the forum and give his own opinion anywhere he wants, no? Besides, his point is valid (though personally I don't really like the extra fee either but it doesn't influence my purchase decision).

Cheers!

Share-it wants 280CAD for 199USD here in Canada... Not sure what planet that exchange rate is coming from, but it sure isn't the one I'm living on...
Exactly I was expecting around 150 as a gladiator owner, but even now that there is no discount for gladiator owners (which there should be because resynthesis never came), I'd still likely be willing to pay 200 now that I've tried it and really like it. But 280? That's crazy. That basically the same as us dollars (a few dollars less - 276 right now). And that swing really needs to be fixed.

playing with the demo-- how the heck do I just load / clear an INIT patch? I honestly don't understand why every soft-synth doesn't have the simple functionality (like all the NI synths) of just sticking a "clear patch" command in the file menu...or at least putting 'init' as a patch into one of the banks..on this thing, there's a 'user' bank but no apparent way to just get this thing to default 'starting' settings.....

anybody?

A: The synth engine has nothing to hide, since it's high-end. To evalute this copy 'Init_Substrative.fxp' from the 'ElectraX_data' directory to 'User'.

That functionality has been removed in the demo. It's very easy apparently in the full version. :hihi:

Wow.. this thread moves fast.

I bought Gladiator 2 used (though with the upgrade packs I've purchased for it, it's probably one of my most expensive plug-ins at this point) but if I hadn't I'd be really mad. This synth clearly could have been Gladiator 3, but that would mean they'd have to give upgrade pricing instead of giving it a new name and giving a free license to a plug in you don't want. Lame, but no surprise from Tone2.

Edit: Markus, there's a reason I buy any product from Urs Heckman without even trying the demo. His software it top notch and he treats me like a valued customer and not a pirate that begrudgingly bought his software because he couldn't find a cracked version.

I also think that ElectraX could also be called Gladiator 3.
It is better but I think it sounds in many presets like an upgraded Gladiator 2 also the developers say that is complete different.
I would buy it for a upgrade price for 99€ but never for 189€.
So I am still happy with my Gladiator 2. :-)

In Electrax there are no modifier chains. In this part it is downgrade. But filters in ElectraX is a pure good trip.

Ok, I figured out what is up with the swing. It wasn't mentioned in the documentation so in case it confused anyone else, here's what's going on. If you have it set to 1 BPM (that is, if you're in 4/4, each step in the arp would be a sixteenth note), the swing is actually 1/8 note swing, which gets completely messy and useless if you're working with 1/16th notes at 1BPM. But if you use 2BPM, at which point the steps are 1/32nd notes, then it is a sixteenth note swing. So odd steps are the sixteenths and it delays every other odd numbered step (3,7,11,15). This is very confusing at first because you'd expect the sixteenth note swing to be at 1BPM where steps are sixteenth note. However this isn't so bad once you understand it because it lets you have 1/32nd notes in the arpeggiator while having 1/16th note swing, which is pretty cool actually. :)

Can anyone confirm the FM knob behavior not engaging until both the knob and the note are released when starting from 0?
