Well, i'm a bit toasted, so i need more time to get a good track, recharging batteries, etc.
I got about 4 ideas (basis) but let's see. I think i will drop all of them.

Hm, also this month seems that there will be an awesome amount of tracks...
I can perceive a new record, seriously.
Day 7th, 7 tracks. Let's see.

@Gorgorgath
Amazing job this month, the bassline sounds perfect and harmonic.
I really like it, bro. Sound fresh from you.
The noisy metallic android really got vacations this month :hihi:
:tu:

Have a good day :)

Hi all

I'm new to the OSC challenge.
I've been checking it out for months but never participated.
It's finally time.

I'll be uploading my track in a few days maybe closer to the end of the month.

http://soundcloud.com/bj-rnlundberg/osc-2f can someone help me here .. i haven't been mixing for ages and same goes for finishing tracks. Now, lets not even mention mastering
Im not sure if it's even good having the person making the track also mixing and mastering but that's how it's usually is.. :)

So if anyone could help me commenting on stereo with, dynamics, eq etc
I know some sounds goes up in volume when other sounds are not played etc so i have some problem with the mastertrack
I have Marvel GEQ from voxengo and Stardust (8 band compressor) there. Im using K-Meter Normal (the settings of Iriondaronin) and then Spectrum Analyzer (it's great!!!). I've tried to use Marvel GEQ to flatten the spectrum out, but not too much ofc. It is bassy music after all

I should probably mention that i dont like building tracks much either (no im not grumpy ).. I like to make "loops" just to get a certain feel and then i feel im done :) After that all the bleh must be done and doing that with a lack of motivation will not give the best results. However, having a possible U-he of choice is a BIG motivation!!!

^ It sounds murky/muddy deep + elements aren't balanced or contoured.

Try disabling all eq and dynamics, do a ruff volume and pan mix... and only than hear what's needed and bring it back... go easy on those EQ boosts (and cuts)... if you want the track to have a specific sound.. consider eq-ing the master of the sub-buses (groups) instead a single instrument.. to avoid any tonal unbalance.

Thanks! It's a bit of a mess right now so disabling is a good idea :) The bassdrum is very bassy coming from zebralette so im not sure if i try and sort it out from the synth are afterwards with eq. Great ideas, thanks!! :)

The tags on my first upload weren't entirely right. They referred to a working title, 'Underdog.' The new upload should have the proper 'Walter and Walter' title tag. The two uploads are the same; save for the tag change.

Prior to removing the first upload, I did notice a comment from Irion... thanks for listening/commenting!

Anyway, i tried to eliminate 'transient spikes' but there yet sound to be at least a couple of 'artifacts' in this.

Whatever the case of my mixing skills (or lack thereof), put me down in agreement that; it's amazing that Zebralette is freeware!

Zebralette is a great, great choice of synth for the OSC!

Hopefully, releasing Zebralette will give Urs a well-deserved spike in Zebra 2 sales.

Crackbaby, if your kick is 'too bassy' then maybe put a high-pass filter on it, and cut out say, below 50, 75, or 100hz? (edit: oh nevermind, i see you've got it sussed)

I Totally agree with 3ee here, I would also add that using a decent pair of headphones (sony MD7506, Sennheiser HD-280) to check the mix is wise, as speakers can be misleading. I always check the "balance" of the instruments in the headphones.
Remember that with almost any synth, "corrective" eq is not needed, as there is no "room" to correct for. Eq in this case is only for aesthetic changes, so when in doubt, leave it alone! with dynamics, I pretty much save it for things with modulating effects that alter the volume of a sound too the point of distraction, so in my tune, it went on the bass, because it had some stuff modulated on it. Most of all, Have Fun! oh, and kill all humans.

Here I go jinxing myself, but...I'm going to try to put a track together for this one! :D

Zebralette sounds like a great synth to start my OSC career (;)) on.

I can't wait to win Zebra 2!

Not sure if I'll use them yet, but thanks to Urs and IrionDaRonin for the percussion sounds! More than generous of both of you. :)

Just uploaded my effort, might have another go if I find the time, September looking busy from now on in.

Used Ableton with EQ8 on bass and drum track

9 active instances of Zebralette
4 sampled Zebralette sounds 2 kicks, 1 snare, 1 hi-hat
3 instances of Density Mk11 (Great free compressor)
Camel crusher and epicVerb on the sends

This is the first track I've produced in 5 years, thanks for the inspiration
