No. Tassman can't do natural skin membrane sounds, which Collision, for example, can. So, if Chromaphone is anything like Collision, then it will cover more ground than Tassman. Then, Chromasome introduces new ideas like coupling technology which Tassman does not have.

When does Chromasome come out? ;)

It's a figment of my imagination. :hihi:

Chromaphone.

Chromasome is the circuit bent version. :hihi:

Chromasome sounds like it might be a VST that actually comes round and bangs something non-virtually for you.
*cue drummer jokes*

Joking aside, having played with the demo a while, I think Chromaphone leverages a particularly well-chosen set of features: fantastically open-ended, but not so overloaded with parameters that it becomes unwieldy to operate.

It's also interesting for us folks who don't own Tassman to hear about the overlap with it. It seems that one area that AAS haven't explored further in a smaller instrument is the wind/pipe/flute model - or have I missed something?

Well, been playin' around with the demo a little. My first impression hasn't really changed. The only "new" thing is the ability to "couple" the resonators together. In Collision, which is a great instrument, you could already decide between parallel and serial processing, so I'm not so sure that this "coupling" is really such a new thing...

A/B-ing the two, my first impression was "wow, it does sound better". Then I switched Chromaphone's effects OFF and listened again. And, lo and behold, the huge sonic differences nearly disappeared. So, to me, for all intents and purposes, Chromaphone IS Collision repackaged and then burnished with a few shiny effects (especially the tube saturation makes these sounds fatter than they are). So, no thanks AAS. I love your products, but this smacks of new bottle, old wine.

Good news though for a lot of folks: it's going to save me money, and now ye unwashed heathens (i.e., all non-Ableton users) can finally partake in the greatness that is Collision.

Is this the coupling technology himalaya refers to? :hihi:

Still no email/coupon for me. :(

I'm wondering if it's because I only own the Ultra Analog that I bought during the no-brainer sale??? Maybe that's excluded?

Right after AAS does the DNA test-or so they say! :-)

I think they're still fixing some problems with the X-Y pad. :hihi:

No, that can't be the reason. I also have the Ultra-Analog no-brainer from AudioMidi, and I did get their email. Obvious things to check: spam folder, did you change your email since the no-brainer? Otherwise check with AAS - send them an email.

I checked my spam folder and the registration email is the same. I'll shoot them an email then - thanks for confirming this!

I have Collision but have not tried the new one to compare. AAS mentions some sort of tying together of the two resonators that looks like it might be a new feature.
Yes, coupling the two resonators makes them interact and yields very interesting, unusual, unheard results.
Yea it seems this might be the only difference between this and collision. Collision can do parallel mode, and serial mode, which is almost coupling but not.

Played around with it and compared it to collision a bit, which i had completely forgotten about, and there doesnt seem like theres much if you already have collision. Still a great instrument though, definitely made me pick collision back up, going to have to start using that one more often

Oh well I bought it - love this sort of instrument. Great fun to play - alas although it is tunable I see no facility to import tunings - they need to rectify that omission. Also no pitchbend!!? Sounds great though, the effects are also good and finally AAS have created an interface that is functional and beautiful. I hope they use this in their next version of Tassman too.

Hey guys, does this look a little suspicious?
