PS: That's not Lady Gaga, that's Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons. Another band that ruined today's music..
meh, they weren't popular long enough, nor did they hold enough influence over other bands to accomplish such a feat.

and tbh, i thought they were fun, and i certainly don't have the urge to switch the station if by chance they do come on the radio. i mean, not like other artists mentioned in this thread.

but srsly, let's save an honor like that for bigger 80s bands like Culture Club or U2 or Bon Jovi or Motley Crue or Poison or someone else that really hung around a while and did some damage to our ears. ;)

osiris wrote: And, you're probably right about Fleetwood Mac, considering only:
Second Hand News"
"The Chain"
"Don't Stop"
"Dreams"
"Rhiannon"
"Gypsy"
"Never Going Back Again"
"Landslide"
"Tusk"
"Sara"
"Hold Me"
"You Make Loving Fun" and "Go Your Own Way" were all released in 1982, nah...
I'm with Chuck, you need to check your facts because they are wrong... only a couple of those songs are from the 80s.

I bought Rumours when in came out... in 1977 (not 1982) which had these songs:
"Second Hand News"
"The Chain"
"Don't Stop"
"Dreams"
"Never Going Back Again"
"You Make Loving Fun"
"Go Your Own Way"

"Rhiannon" and "Landslide" were on the 1975 Fleetwood Mac self titled LP

"Tusk" and "Sara" were on 1979's Tusk (possibly played into early 1980, hence the confusion here)

Only "Hold Me" and "Gypsy" were from 1982 (Mirage)

just setting the record straight :)

Set Wiki straight. Here's the track listing they have up for Mirage (1982)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirage_(Fl ... Mac_album)
But if you go to Amazon and look at the track listing for Mirage only 2 of those songs are on the album.
If I can't trust my memories to Wiki who can I trust....

just read that wiki link, and cut & pasted it:
Track listing

"Love in Store" (Christine McVie, Jim Recor) - 3:14
"Can't Go Back" (Lindsey Buckingham) - 2:42
"That's Alright" (Stevie Nicks) - 3:09
"Book of Love" (Buckingham, Richard Dashut) - 3:21
"Gypsy" (Nicks) - 4:24
"Only Over You" (C. McVie) - 4:08
"Empire State" (Buckingham, Dashut) - 2:51
"Straight Back" (Nicks) - 4:17
"Hold Me" (C. McVie, Robbie Patton) - 3:44
"Oh Diane" (Buckingham, Dashut) - 2:33
"Eyes of the World" (Buckingham) - 3:44
"Wish You Were Here" (C. McVie, Colin Allen) - 4:45
as I stated before, only Gypsy and Hold Me were from that album, which I also owned back when LP's were the medium and my parents hadn't ruined mine by storing them in a humid SE Texas attic while I was away at school.

not sure where you got that other listing from

Yeah, well I kinda grew up with that 'anyone without talent can release a single' attitude, except in my day we called it 'punk'.

And some of it was indeed shite. And some of it was unadulterated genius. Same with rap. Its a funny old world. ;)

Im not in favour of 'you dont get to even try because we get to tell you what's acceptable' though. That's the line where musicians turn into fascist little bastards when they cross it.

My bad. I don't know why the full link didn't paste. But I went to the page and that's the Mirage <Tour> set list.....

stupid shit has always, will always rule.

the chances of quality must be higher just from the availability of access today, which conversely means the chances of absolute crap is higher as well.

don't let the bastids get you down, you know. but complaining is normal. :)

I don't get it either...
and neither does KISS or Motley Crue

Regardless, I like them more now!

What Gene Simmonds seems completely incapable of grasping though is that with the exception of the first 3 or 4 albums, Kiss is a f**king awful band and they've relied on exactly what Rihanna et al have done to be successful - good publicity.

If Kiss were to be judged on songs alone they would have been long, long forgotten.
