I like that you can record arp by one note at a time! It's possible to bind it also. I just logged on to my bank to see if i should .. or not.

The one thing that strikes me about this thread is how very important it is for software developers to actually listen to future customers.
I very much doubt that RP doesn't at least monitor Kvr and the early warnings about its interface that seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
It would seem that there's a huge amount of cash to be made on releasing any software synth. Perhaps too much if authors can ignore what seems to be a general concessus.
In RP favour at least he's an active developer who always seem to be trying to bring something a little bit different to the table and I for one am very grateful because I don't think the world needs yet another VA unless of course it can improve on the many hundreds if not thousands of previous offerings.
Personally I think the "harmilator" concept is just another blag

Just been playing with it, and I have to second this. This thing is made for evolving sounds. I can probably get these sounds from other synths, but it would involve some extensive programming. It's a great design, simple yet deep, and it makes tweaking dead easy. It almost strikes me as being a synth version of Ambitron.ttoz wrote:

A lot of the sounds are a little thin, but that seems to be part of the deal. The sub osc is good for adding some much-needed oomph, but this doesn't seem to be that kind of synth. Taking it for what it is, I'd say: a one-stop sci-fi movie sound machine!
UI: Weeeellllll... hm. I agree with the criticisms, although I'd say the layout is fine. I kinda like the Batarang, but aliasing on a commercial product is unbelievably amateurish. Don't know how this passed QA. Assuming they have QA implemented. Also, the "big screen" version doesn't fit on my 1600x900 notebook screen, the bottom is cut off. Hrmph.

Completely agree! Has some really easy unique sounds to make. Blade is really fun to tinker and experiment with. The UI from that standpoint is a success. Not read a lot on the thread so apologies if this is repetitious or unfounded.
Downloaded the demo and whilst I really want to like RP's plugins I find the GUIs finicky and uninspiring, this is subjectively personal and I realize this.
Also what is going on with the middle panel and balls rotating all over the place, I know RTFM, but it was a quick demo and initial impression was not good. There are some good scapes and ambience sounds in there but it all sounds very thin to me.
Not sure about any wobbles and to be honest I probably didnt give it a chance, but I don;t like it...sorry
Saying that it is up against a lot of competition in my rig so not a lot stood out to my ears vs other instruments like Absynth, Synthmaster, Omnisphere, Dune to name drop a few.
Saying that the initial offer is good and if someone doesnt have an array of products in their arsenal then definately do consider this, but demo first. Kudos for a new product from RP and the non dongle protection.

XY pad. Not really new, some synth have a similar thing to control parameters. The difference is more that movings can be recorded and will then played back (also synced to the host tempo). Parameters around the middle screen are mapped to the XY controller, this is the basic idea.
There are of course some question marks
I don't know if different parameters can be mapped to different XY control points (IMO not). But after the annoying noise after 30min I have given up to dive deeper into the details with Blade and uninstalled the demo.

Well, I went ahead and bought it. I am officially rescinding my former comment about it sounding "thin". It can be fattened up quite easily. I really love the workflow on this thing. You can easily set up modulations, because you've got the XY pad, and dedicated Harmolator velocity, envelope and LFOs. Beautiful, simple, fun.
Yes, an XY pad has been done, but look at what you can do with this one: assigning it to a whole host of parameters is ridiculously easy. It can be a performance tool, or a stunningly complex LFO modulator.
All you naysayers, spend some time with it. Forget the presets, set it to default and begin to experiment. Some basic understanding of the controls helps, but the manual is very helpful in this regard.
Blade won't redefine additive synthesis, and you can get "similar" sounds elsewhere, but to me, it's the workflow and where it takes you that counts. I find this to be one of the most inspirational synths I've played.

What I think Blade misses is multilayering. Sure, your supposed to NOT need that in an additive synth, but the easy workflaw in Blade, removes the ability to totally control the partials in the oscillator. So multiple oscillators and filters make sense to me here.

I finally had a chance to install this and actually played with it. I think Rob and the whole ConcreteFx team and the sound desiginers deserve a big round of applause. This sounds incredible and the way you can manipulate it is astounding. You're going to have a hard time coming up with anything to top yourselves.
