Yes, you can resize the rack, mixer, and sequencer windows -- but none of the elements within the windows. You can't, for example, make the size of each SSL* mixer lane larger.

Not entirely. The rack extension/plugins are not resizable, but you can stack racks horizontally. The rack can overflow the viewable space and be scrolled. There is an overview window that lets you see everything and scroll around with left-click drag.

The mixer, rack and sequencer can all exist in their own resizable windows as well.

I mean is the whole thing fixed to 800 wide? Can it go full screen?

That is true. I didn't think to mention that since most DAWS don't let you resize mixer channels, or simply offer you the plain view and a slim view.

You can resize various things and zoom in the sequencer window though.

It is a bit limited, but not much more so than most VST's without resizeable windows and other DAWS that don't have resizable mixer channels. Reason does offer a fairly nice way of moving around the rack and mixer and offers nice overviews that are pretty rare in other hosts.

If you're on a display with high pixel density though, Reason's mixer can be damn near unusable :x

Yep. You can go fullscreen.

The 3 windows (sequencer, mixer, rack) could all be fullscreened themselves on 3 monitors, or all together, or any combination of the 3.

I don't think the rack itself is resizable horizontally, but the good news is, the RE standard should be perfectly capable of it.

You can go fullscreen but the rack stays the same size. What you get is several rack rows next to each other. The rack is always 760ish pixels wide atm.

Reason since record uses a three screen paradigm, F5 through F7 toggles between SSL mixer, rack, and sequencer. These can be in a maximized window and can be teared to separate windows, so if you have up to three monitors you could have the three views split on them.

When it comes to the rack though, the actual devices are set to that 760ish width, it's just that you can now stack devices horizontally (in rows) and not just vertically like in Reason 1 through 5.

49€ for ABL2 is ok .. but i own it as a vst, should i now pay that? ... uh.
65€ for a RM? That sounds way overpriced. You can't even resell it and if you sell Reason they are to no use for anyone as you can't transfer the RE licenses.
Who told you that? You can buy something but you can't sell afterwards?

You mean columns, not rows. The rack has always been split into rows, but now you can have columns. Essentially racks next to each other.

Can you demo RE's with a demo version of Reason 6.5???

Post

Am I the only one completely blown away by this?!

This is like my dream! Look at all those RE's now! This is going to be killer.

However I've not used reason since 2.5 and I never did quite get the design of 3.0 so maybe I won't like it as much as I thought!

Check out the EULA. That is how it seems to read to a lot of people on the Props forum.
