Too bad that the demo is terrible, but nevermind. I would be curious to see more about time-stretching and Elastic audio / warp markers features.

oh ya its a feature i use with ableton toottoz wrote:When live's meters are resized they take up approx 35% of the screen height, that;'s some big ass meters even on a 15" laptop. Yes the bitwig ones could be much bigger, but was i imagining that there is no "peak db" display on top of the meter like there is in live when you enlarge them?
i use it when jamming
im just glad its in bitwig too, and like how it seems bigger and looks better
plus for me, being able to see what synths+fx chains are on each channel, at a glance, is a god send as im constantly forgetting what is where on new sets. the goal of course is to know without looking and bitwig's way of doing it will help make that a faster transition. of course maybe live 9 will do something similar.
i just bought a live 8 suite upgrade + maxforlive lately too, but i got it at the glitch price during the promo, and am selling off the duplicates i have from an extra license so that helps bring the cost down {real men own two licenses for their daw
at the end of the day it boils down to the fact that competition is great for the end user.
im personally delighted that bitwig is a lb for lb direct competitor to live and especially happy that bitwig will ''sandbox'' 3rd party vsts so that if they crash its just the plugin that goes down and not the set. another god send for me. and because these guys are in direct competition, ableton will surely try to match that feature sooner or later!
for me its not going to be an EITHER OR situation, i will own both LIVE & Bitwig.
primarily because i have invested so much time already in ableton and have at least a thousand projects in ableton format, but also because of max4live. if it wasnt for max4live it could actually be an EITHER OR situation for me personally.

What missing feature in BitWig would make you pass.
For me the Racks above all.
On the other end it seems to have (in the future) a modular section like Max?

for the sake of the plugin sandbox i could live without racks, though i really dont believe they wont have something that works just like racks if not also slightly improved.liquidsound wrote:What missing feature in BitWig would make you pass.

its a good question though ill think about it!
the modular section in bitwig is more like plogue bidule, as someone already mentioned. plus it will let you get into BitWigs built-in synths&fx and see/edit them as modular patches. that is pure unadulterated WIN!
max and consequently max4live has overall a wider reach in terms of functionality, and is kind of bolted on to live rather than living within it, unlike the proprietary bitwig offering.
so theres overlap indeed, but ultimately i feel they're different beasts. wont know for absolute certain until i get my hands dirty though but thats how i see it.
