"BitWigileaks" That's what's really missing from this thread. I fully expected by now someone would have said something substantial along this line.
"BERLIN -- In an altercation that will only receive attention in the dodgy world of digital audio software design, after certain undisclosed disagreements, three former Ableton employees have left Ableton's employ to start their own path toward Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) design and sales. In an apparent effort to 'rub it in', the new company, Bitwig. have opened an office practically across the street from their former employer.
Although proprietors of the new enterprise insist they are using all newly conceived and written code for the new project, many who have been granted an early view of the programme say it has many features that appear to be lifted directly from Ableton source code combined with a smattering of cosmetic features taken from industry leaders such as the most well-known of German DAW makers Steinberg.
When asked about the derivative nature of their new product, a Bitwig spokesperson refused to comment. Others well-versed and experience in such software and the business of marketing DAWs stated unanimously that 'the game was afoot' in Bitwig's blatant efforts to steal away a large portion of Ableton's customer base. This comes at a time when Ableton has come to the realization that it will never be able to repair certain long-term failings as the Plugin Delay Compensation that is virtually nonexistent or its propensity to crash when facing even the slightest hardship, thus earning its nickname 'Disableton'.
However, it is posible that Ableton's worries over their new competition may have been somewhat unfounded, since all these months later Bitwig seems to be unable to bring its new DAW out of endless betas and deliver a finished product. If ever it does, the likely brawl between the two firms should become quite a spectacle, since Ableton yesterday released its own new product. Live 8 has been upgraded to Live 9 after nearly a million years of its users waiting for this upgrade. "
