Ableton Live 8 and Reaper 4 get the most use here, Cubase Studio 5 is still installed as well, but I fire it up rarely. May sell it some day.
MacBook Air M2 (2022), 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Steinberg UR22mkII USB audio.
Ableton Live 12 Standard, Cubase Pro 12, Logic Pro 12

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. Makes me feel like the original question/poll wasn't such a stupid one after all. I think I am going to pull the trigger on my third DAW - Reason Essentials. I already own (and use) Reaper and FL Studio.

ftr my answer of 1 was realistically what I use, you didn't ask what we own and I own a few...I use a dedicated machine in my studio and I went with what I have installed on that which is one. I have more than one on my laptop but that's for experimenting and/or "keeping up" with what's new. My main machine only has software on it I use regularly, nothing more and with Samplitude that's easy because it's fx are top notch, and it's truly for me a one stop host.bharris22 wrote:Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. For years I used FL/AA (FL for midi and then I would render those tracks and import them to AA to add all my recorded audio tracks (guitar, vox etc). Ironically I am far happier now but my production was so much more productive with the two host method. I think that's because now it's easy for me to go back and change midi where as with FL/AA if I had a new idea for VSTi's in a song sometimes I would just think "it's not worth the effort". So now I spend more time chasing my tail, but that's okay...I got nowhere to go anyhow, just sometimes I chase my tail tother way to undizzy myself

Ableton 9 for producing and Logic 9 for mixing and mastering. To lovely chicks who goes hand in hand very well.

I use about 25 different DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATIONS. But, my favorite one is definitely Babya Logic 2015. Babya International got their hands on a stolen copy of the Logic 10 Beta, and enhanced it with a new cool blue interface and outstanding plugins such as one-dinger only. Bitwig Studio 2.0 can't even compare yo.

Especially considering that a lot of hardware comes with a free DAW, and CM magazine gives away (or used to) a free DAW, and a great program like Reaper is free to put on your drive and evaluate (and very cheap to license).hibidy wrote:Then you obviously haven't paid attention to kvrcryophonik wrote:Anybody surprised by the results so far? I thought for sure that there would be far fewer in the 3+ category.
Frankly, I'm surprised that 3+ didn't run away with it.

That was MY first "DAW" as well. Graduated to the sequencer on my ASR-10 before finding true happiness with Cubase.rockstar_not wrote: I've been a one-host at a time person since the very first one I used - which was my sequencer on my Ensoniq ESQ-1.

Just wondering why you care.bharris22 wrote:Just curious how many different DAWs KVR members use regularly? Do you go back and forth between DAWs depending on the project, or do you generally stick with a particular DAW until you get tired of it and want a change? Why do you use one versus another?
Thanks!
It's a serious question.
In what way possible would it benefit your life, in whatever way?
No really, I am probably more curious about why you asked this question than your curiosity for asking it in the first place.
"Why do you use one versus another?" Whoah.. People get banned for less..
And you are curious?
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but I'm still 'curious', why do you want to know? What change does it affect in your life?
However, this is a pretty well developed thread, why don't you tell us what you have learned.
Any chance?

Ok, if I told you I use Samplitude plus Nuendo on a pretty regular basis...
But I sometimes use Reaper and Podium at others, how would this inform 'what' part of your life?
It's not good enough to say "Oh thanks, I really learned a lot".
Come on, what are you getting out of this? Really.
This isn't just another 'what are your top 5 vsts thread'.
How could this possibly enrich your life? In what way?
It's a serious question. And one I doubt you can answer in a serious manner.
But give it a try.

Would curiousity count?
Or would one needs go through a long disquisition as to 'why'....

N/M, I thought that was the last question of the thread but Barry had actually answered it and much better.
