I found "XILS Unquiet Night.evcs" by aMUSEd here http://www.xils-lab.com/xo_phpBB/viewto ... 4ec9b6fa7a
[Using the BE version] Importing the "XILS Unquiet Night.evcs" file did not succeed. Used import bank but was unable to locate any added patches after import. Help please ?
Also found another bank by phaedra "phaedra.evcs" / http://www.xils-lab.com/xo_phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=89 but sadly same result, no patches added.
Finally if the above two banks are only for the Full version, perhaps there are some other banks that do work with BE ?

I don't think the preset import/export works with XILS BE - tried a lot of different things on the Win 32-bit version, selecting the menu options doesn't do anything.abovethoughts wrote:I found "XILS Unquiet Night.evcs" by aMUSEd here http://www.xils-lab.com/xo_phpBB/viewto ... 4ec9b6fa7a

From the Track Submissions thread, so I thought it was better to comment it there, not to derail the submissions thread.bh9090 wrote:I'm in:

So ... The Xils 3 BE is a modular synthesizer. In such synthesizers you have to establish connections between modules in order to get well ..... sound.( Sometimes some might have noticed that you have no sound at all when you make the wrong connections on Xils 3 )
The Xils 3 replicates the VCS3 "Matrix" panel to establish these connections, but in a system 100 for example you'll have to patch with jacks all over the -huge- rack. I recently had fun at a friends with his system 100, and it can become rather quickly quite messy looking when you patch a lot.
Imho ---- This is the same with some other systems replicating the system 100 patching system in software world. In other worlds in some semi modular systems, like the Korg Ms-20, you can set some connections with fakie "Jacks". And its the same with some other soft synths, you can see jacks everywhere on the UI. While I think this system is faithfull towards the original instruments, like a Moog modular etc, the information feedback is rather poor, and its sometimes not easy to "see" and "understand" a patch with a simple glance on those sofsynths. Otoh, with systems like the Xils 3, as information is centralised in a single Matrix area, you can "see" your patch quite easily.
There are some other systems to set connections in some other modular softsynts btw, so here again there's a real choice for those who are after a particular workflow.
Also to be considered is the size of the GUI, and maybe that's what the OP wanted to point out, the XIls3 can become a bit small with highest screen definitions more commonly found nowadaysthan in the past, like in 26" monitors. Since it also has to be compatible with laptops screens, its a kind of compromise, and maybe the choice of two GUI sizes in the future could be a good thing.
But well, like I said Xils 3 BE is a modular thing, and whatever graphic system you use you have to set connections. I really enjoy the Matrix approach, and find it better and easier to patch the machine than some other systems, but I can use other systems as well, and its a personal choice. YMMV.

Only for the full version. Xils 3 LE, that is incredibly affordable on Xils site, now allows the import of the full version soundbanks, though the results are not guaranted, as anything using the plethora of additional modules of the full version will of course not be replicated.abovethoughts wrote:I found "XILS Unquiet Night.evcs" by aMUSEd here http://www.xils-lab.com/xo_phpBB/viewto ... 4ec9b6fa7a

Iirc, the Xils3 BE can import/export singles presets, but not Banks. ( though both files have the same extension, they are different in their content).

Making music should be tied to more than the results of a single contest in KVR.e@rs wrote:Started a project with Xils 3 and got stucked with a drifting kick.
Then, I was extremely disappointed with the Feldspar results for my submission. Kinda lost interest in OSC.
Hoping for a better mood.
Better mood will come, dont ever loose hope !

You can report any eventual bugs of the BE version using the contact us utility of Xils site. Or in the Xils forum.QuadrupleA wrote: I'll be sitting this month's out I think - been encountering enough problems with the synth that have made it challenging to work with, and I imagine that translates to its paid cousin too, so probably not something I'll use for future projects. Still some interesting ideas in the synth - I like the super-modular approach, lots of sonic possibilities. Just needs some polish in the execution I think.

I've been using the Xils3 full version for now many years, and as I see it, and ime, its as free of bugs as all my other soft synths ( or as bugged, depending if you prefer doors half oppen, or half closed )
I know this argument has been considered as useless, but, considering all versions, several thousands of people are making music with the Xils 3's without having noticed that much problems, if any. So maybe the BE version has some problems, but in any case does it translate to its paid cousins. But well, to figure it out, I think the best way could be to try the dongleless demo of the Xils 3, and see what comes out.

And to answer some other questions, oscillators are free running, and have drift. Last week I had to make some "kicks" on my SH-101 for a totally different, and not related, project, it was a lot of fun and really interesting : Guess what ? it "driftsquitealot".

Is highly probable that I go to participate!
I don't know if is the adecuate place for asking a rule about the OSC.
Is allowed use automatizations for do slow transitions?

It would be useful if there was a switch to make the modulation matrix temporarily larger for more convenient patching. A key command would be really great. On my 21 inch mac it was still kind of hard sometimes to quickly line up the coordinates of a patch point.

Por supuesto que está permitido.
It's allowed.
The use of automations is even encouraged to show off what the synth can do.
You can automate the mix sliders, cutoffs, on/off stuff, and all Midi modulations that comes with the synth.
Anyway, you can use this thread for general questions in the future.
Have a nice day

Hi Lotuzia, see this post for a summary of the bugs I found in BE. One other I found is that the import/export bank menus don't do anything (no file picker window, etc.).Lotuzia wrote:I've been using the Xils3 full version for now many years, and as I see it, and ime, its as free of bugs as all my other soft synths

Hope you'll be able to make music to ease the pain. Sometimes its a good thing to transform emotions into music. When its possibel of course, cos sometimes even music can seem futile and useless. All the best to you
