An excellent review! Very polished. Only thing lacking is a little "funk!"David Else wrote:Check out my in-depth vLinn review:

Yeah but that's a mod of the original, not a feature. And probably would affect your warranty.Aly James wrote:You can replace EPROMs (samples) on the original and also tweak the filters response and reading speed range, so what are the extra features are we talking about?Maomoondog wrote:Tried it for size. Did not like all the extra features (sample inport etc) that the original did not have. Very nice Vst, but just not for me. I would recommend it for those seeking the retro sounds though.![]()

It is quite an 'academic' review, i could have gone the other way and spent days writing cool tracks to demo it with and make my own EPROM vocal samples to go 'learn l-l-l-l-learn digital a-a-a-a-dio-o-o'

Talking about funk, I don't know what is the funkiest, the Linn sounds or the DMX/DX or Drumtraks sounds? Damn! Tuning a snare gives you so much different options (from fat L.A. snare to high piccolo D&B). Strangely enough, the hihat of the original Linn (the one that actually changes with each note) is my least favorite.

The manual is a good read. It shares the quality of the software! If you were still undecided, it might help you make a choice.

The only Linn samples I really ever played around with were the ones that comes on Abletons Drum Machines. They always seemed good enough but after I bought this, I discovered how bad and grainy they sound. This is a pretty nice plugin.

yep, they are top notch: excellent if you are in retro chip 8-bit etc. it can't get much better!spacedad wrote:anyone tried his other vsti?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
