UVI - for the record

I jump in here to say the uvi product line is top notch, though some of it is highly focused..
The uvi workstation / Mach V 3.2 are a joy to use.
I don't notice issues with the iLok.
I will continue to use their gear for many years into the future.. They are here to stay, of that I am convinced..
I like a little arrogance from my developers. Means they are focused on the important issues at hand. Like making new improvements, releasing better and better products..
Users, and in the case of this thread non Users, (more like a ABusers actually) that ask the impossible can tap resources/reduce motivation to keep at the core efforts of running a business. As a developer at somepoint you just need to slam the door, preferrablly in a most kind but firm way. It's the humane thing to do.. I applaud their stance on this as explained in their responses above..

It's great that iLok haters leave the shop, it's quiet and easier to find your way around..

That's because there are none currently. I'm with you too, UVI do good stuff, and I've got a few libs that use the Workstation (Acoustic Samples JBass being my favourite) which make it that much more useful.TwoToneshuzz wrote: I don't notice issues with the iLok.

Actually I wanted to be helpful but looks like it could be misinterpreted.Doc Brown wrote:Ouch. It's getting cold in here.otristan wrote:There is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of our mailing AFAIK.BBFG# wrote:Challenge/Response more intrusive than iLok/PACE?

Only PACE continues to run in system resources after initial authorization.
But thanks for explaining why the company believes it is the only thing they should ever use. I'm glad I gave my UVI plugins away now. (And it was because of PACE).
Now if I can just get the spam to stop.![]()
Out...
Feel free to use it.
In case it doesn't work, don't hesitate to contact me by P.M with your email address.
Thanks,
BBFG# was annoyed by our mailing so I have just give him a way to get rid of those.
Sorry if it sounded rude and arrogant.

Sorry if I seemed rude by shutting the door to this product by saying "Out" on my last comment.
I do wish these companies would simply tell everyone upfront that it uses PACE. Would save a lot of time all the way around. It would have been as simple as them telling us they intend to keep this other company as part of their own without ever any possibility of changing it to be appealing to more of the market. Then I wouldn't have sought the same answer the OP was looking for.
(The Spam comment was kind of joking, as some of it comes from the online dealers too - which I can't unsubscribe from just because UVI and Waves is have their continuous 'sales' and freebies to package the unwanted software with.)
If you find no issue with PACE, then it's clearly because you aren't looking.
And that's fine.
Thanks for finally letting us know your entrenched position on this,
as it also clearly keeps many of is in ours as well.
Again, I apologize for any perceived 'rudeness' and 'shutting the door' on this company.

UVI have in this thread, with a clarity that can not be misunderstood, declared that they have no intentions and do not want to offer an alternative to PACE. Thus, they have closed the door to those who are interested in their products but do not want PACE.
UVI says that they consider the loss of potential customers, due to the above, as negligible.
UVI is not listening to demands of potential customers.
This says something about their policy.
This time it was about an alternative to PACE. Tomorrow it might be the OS you're using or the DAW you have.
If you and your demands doesn't fit you're negligible.
None of their products are in the top 50 list on the ranking page for commercial software. Most likely fo a reason.
However considering the big amount of alternatives to UVI. Their absence is negligible.
C'est la vie.
