In fact I'm not seeing any feature updates in any of Vojtechs plugins, there are a lot of maintenance updates but new features are generally coded into new plugins, which is probably one of the reasons the Melda portfolio has almost reached 100 plugs by now. Quite a few of them are variations on a theme, many are great, some are average, some are sort of meh, but generally speaking I really like what Melda is releasing and using all these gems inside MXXX opens so many sonic doors, it's frightening...218 wrote:Damn fast answer Simon! Hmm okay, gotta try the demo again but with my other spectral plugs smearing acts and sounds different than freezing...maybe thats different with Mtransform.MeldaProduction wrote:Come on guys- spectral freezing = smearing at 100%

I started getting into Melda but realized demoing similar overlapping plugins in the massive Melda folder was eating up time reserved for working on music.

Actually unlike other companies we have only a few that seem "sort of similar", but they are not at all. Sure, there could be a mega plugin which would do everything in spectral domain
, but then most people wouldn't use it anyways. So instead there is MTransformer being supercreative thing, MUnison for well obviously unison & smart harmoniziation, MMultiBandHarmonizer for all kinds of pitch shifting harmonization etc. All have a very specific purpose
.

Isn't spectral freezing more like looping a short part of the sample/spectrum?MeldaProduction wrote:Come on guys- spectral freezing = smearing at 100%
IMHO the freezing in MTransformer does not sound like real spectral freezing like Max/Msp or Spectrumworx. Anyway it could be improved Vojtech?

Hmmm, improved, I like what it does
. Could you send me a few examples of what it does and what the others you mentioned do?

If you could implement "true" spectral freezing in Mtransformer it would be so unbelievably awesome

Sure. I posted a track a while ago in the "FR: A dedicated spectral manipulation effect" thread where I have used Max/Msp for some lush wide stereo freezing. At least that's the kind of freezing I'm talking about. It does the same as the video that 218 linked to.
Spectrumworx has a freezing module that does this too but I find the Max/Msp modules to be a little better.
The track is made by freezing the audio of a full track every bar/half bar, using an lfo to trigger the freeze button.

I guess you are comparing yourself to Waves. I think they also have too many plugins. At least they have the excuse of being a larger company that has been around for a long time. I like companies like FabFilter, DMGAudio, Cytomic, etc. with a limited number of effects plugins where each one has a carefully designed GUI.MeldaProduction wrote:Actually unlike other companies we have only a few that seem "sort of similar", but they are not at all.
I think your DSP is first rate but the presentation (so many plugins with generic GUIs) leaves something to be desired.
