can't wait for this. key for me will be the interface. resizable or at at least big & clear enough to be usable on high res screen. so looking forward to seeing a screenshot when the GUI is done.
true its is unrivalled. first drumsynth plugin with 0df filters.
currently I use reaktor blocks & other synths with 0df filters for analog drum sounds...but obviusly it is not the quick & fun experience of a drum machine.....and hopefully StiX won't give the same cpu hit as having 10 synths opened.

Are the voice engines general purpose synths or tailored for specific drum sounds like snare, bass, hi-hat, etc.?

Yes I was able to select wich Xils filters I would like for the drum machine. Incredible. So I picked my favorites.

There will be several sizes to fit all screens.

And finally, cpu wise, it's not like having 10 synths opened, wich is also what I did when I wanted analog percussions, it's more like having one synth opened with an 4/5 notes polyphony. ( You can have up to ten *active* drumpads but some of them will have very short release times, and release eats cpu, so that's why I average it to 4/5 notes polyphony -ie so it wont be, besides very exceptional drumkits, like having a 10 notes pad on a virtual analog synth with long release for example )

Well, StiX won't be a *very light cpu* drum machine tbh, there's a certain cpu price to pay for quality modelled filters, envelopes, oscillators etc. But it wont be a cpu hog either.

The voices engines are identical for all drumpads, ie a complete -virtual- analog synthesizer with sample possibilities, cross synthesis etc.

Drumpads are labelled - BD, Snare, HH etc- so that DrumKits can be more/less compatible with sequencer presets, General Midi etc, and that you can change them on the fly - or use Intelligent randomize actions/functions to hybridate the drumkits-, but you can also make a drumkit with three snare drums and two kicks if you wish, or a percussions only Tabla kit. You decide.

Example 4, exploring the Sample engines. What I did : Triggering a few different patterns with my midi keyboard, along with the Kontakt *Funk* bass (that also plays the chords). StiX Stereo output, no limiter, no external fx, etc. I could have got better results by adding additonal variations triggering drumpads with the keyboard, or muting some sequencer lines (also with the midi keyboard) when it becomes too busy. But I left it as it for the moment : It's just StiX playing some patterns, so just load the preset and you should have similar results. You can hear the flams ( made with micro position ) and *a la rototom* tunings in the intro pattern and the rolls etc; Btw I did not use the *swing* for this one. I just used 6 steps per beat.

StiX West Coast Swing

So, for example, just load your Emu/TR-xox/Drumtracks etc in StiX, and you'll be ready to go in a minute. Also hopefully verifies/shows -imho- that StiX should have *minimal interesting capabilities* for musicals genre like hip-hop, Urban, Funk-Soul, Fusion and related genres

Lol Mr Dupond & Dupond :hihi:

Sorry guys : No screenshot until the final GUI is ready !

But, if you want to imagine something :

StiX is globally an 'adaptative' single panel instrument, with very few tabs. Drumpads, mixer and sequencer are always visible.

Sequencer : You can switch from the XoX Multiline view ( you can edit all lines simultaneously ) to a Single Line view. Multiline view is immediatly understandable for the rookies, and you can build your rythms like you would do on a TR-808/909 drum machine (except you can have per step divisi, and a variable number of steps per beat ). The XoX multiline view gives an exceptional visual feedback to understand the rythm you're creating, and the relationship between the different pads and their relative rythms. Single line editor is for those who want to edit in depth a line, and drum doctors.

Synthesis : In the same spirit, you can switch for each drumpad from an *Eazy Synthesis tab*, with macro modulations, to the *Advanced Synthesis tab*, that offers a whole synthesizer. Macro Eazy page is very powerfull, and has a lot of unique, drums oriented tools and features. It's intended to be used for quick and powerfull edits, and here again, is very easy and intuitive to use for non experienced users. The advanced synthesis tab gives you full power and control ( and *programming power a lot* there is : A full synthesizer per drumpad )

All in all, one of the goals of StiX is that it adapts to your needs and your experience level very easily and quickly. You can program it like a TR-808, or you can dive into the arcanes of complex programmation in the sequencer or synthesis engines, and, to go from the TR-like UI to the StiX total hydra, you only need ... one click.

Well ...... screenshots as soon as possible, but you can now imagine StiX - a bit- :)

Just make sure it is not as fiddly as those insane "mask" things on Oxium and your delay. ;)

Well Masks sequencers are delicate it's true, especially when pushed to the extremes. But no other step sequencer can do what they do. Now, StiX is a totally different story, so people who are less in love with the Masks might like StiX.

StiX sequencers are based on the classic XoX paradigm -on steroids- : Click once in the XoX line, and the drumpad will play. Click again, and it wont play anymore.

The XoX sequencer is especially adapted to drum sounds. And its also very well adapted to cycling structures. It gives an incredible visual feedback to the user, and I always found it fascinating UI wise. Then, it's 2015 and not 1985, so it will be a 2015 XoX sequencer.

It's not final yet. They don't want to set the wrong expectations before the official announcement, so lotuzia is only explicitly telling us everything about it and leaving it up to our imagination as to what the gui actually is. ;)
