Aalto Solo and Dune (CM) are not really magware because Dune LE (or BE) can be downloaded from Studiodrive.be, here:

It really blows my mind how many free synths and instruments there are. Along with something like the free versions of Tracktion or other free DAWs, a talented composer could make some pretty fair music.
Thanks for your effort in assembling this list.
If it helps with the assemblage, here are a couple lists I made though I haven't check for a long while and they probably have broken links...

Not only for their own potential occasion to find some plugins we could have missed... but also to consider the huge evolution made these last two or three years by the developers of freewares. Yes you're right, it seems that there are nowadays much more talented people that we thought.
About lists of that kind, I think that it could be interesting to try to make also a list of... "cheapwares".
By this word I mean plugins which would be not freeware nor magwares... but plugins whose price is accessible to everybody, say under 20€/$ or even under 15€/$.
I'm sure that even by leaving aside all the soundsets and nude samplesets thus by focusing exclusively on instruments and effects we could find many gems in that list, in 32-bit and in 64-bit. I think of things like the incredible Night Flight, daHornet (which is 64-bit by the way), or the beautiful vintage ARPG8R arpeggiator, or the excellent RC808 emulation, or the incredible Recabinet, and other things of that quality...

Aalto CM is stated as magware and not Aalto Solo. Dune LE is 32bit only.brainzistor wrote:Aalto Solo and Dune (CM) are not really magware because Dune LE (or BE) can be downloaded from Studiodrive.be, here:

Yes. Minimum 9 dollars to get it (the freeware is only the 32-bit version, you don't get the link to the 64-bit version without paying at least 9 dollars).Paree wrote:daHornet is a Donationware for 64bit.
It has always been one of my preferred "cheap" soft synths for leads using a vintage analog emulation previous to 1980.

Aalto CM and Aalto Solo are the same thing, both monophonic versions of Aalto, I should have explained it.
Aalto Solo was a Beat Magazine's version, but later on they gave it for free to everyone.
Same thing with Bazille CM and Beatzille where Beatzille is a Beat Magazine's version
and in October Beat gave Beatzille for free to everyone for a limited time.
When it comes to Dune LE, I had no idea that it's only 32bit, because CM has a 64bit version
and I have full version and both CM and Beat Magazine are doing this Bingo and Dingo, Bongo and Dongo,
Rambo and Commando thing for years and people get confused what is what while the only difference is the name, but plugins are the same.
So, maybe it's better to list those same magware plugins as
Bazille CM / Beatzille
Aalto CM / Aalto Solo
etc., so that someone who is not aware of CM's and Beat's Bingo and Dingo stuff not gets confused, because they are all same plugins with only different names.

It's quite difficult to find now the discontinued Linplug FreeAlpha.
So I suggest to not wait to provide in your OP the link to the official remaining Linplug page which still (for how many months ?) allows its download.
It is here, at the last line of the tab "Alpha & soundsets":
http://www.linplug.com/download/fullversion.html
Good to know: the soundsets made for the full edition of Alpha didn't work in FreeAlpha of course. But the page allows to at least still download the plugin at its last version.
