Which is one of the things I don't like about hardware. It takes up too much room. So why would I want to have the same headache with software?Teksonik wrote:Same for every hardware synth you wanted to keep.....wagtunes wrote: So for every piece of software that I ever owned that I wanted to keep, I'd have to have a PC around that was able to still run that software.
That doesn't sound like a very practical solution covering over 30 years of PC development and OS.

BTW, Alchemy is also available in Mainstage and in Garageband including for iPad. Some people add a second hard drive for dual-boot Windows/OSX (with OSX-compatible components) or get a Mac Mini. Also, recall back when Apple was tiny, Microsoft was disliked for being a monopoly and because its UI was awful; so Microsoft took the Windows idea from Apple, that Apple had originally taken from Xerox.

hmmm Apple is not tiny and Microsoft is still being disliked for being a monopoly and because new Windows UI is a mish-mash of awful and terrible.

well, yeah it's just as mouse-y as alchemy, but it's also a lot more powerful, with much deeper modulation, and the resynthesis engine, filters and fx sound noticeably better. tons of menus, yes, but I find you can get much further than alchemy with just the main panel. in alchemy the cool additive toys are kinda in the background, whereas in harmor it's all upfront. blur, pluck, prism and such are all things that can be done in alchemy but require complex manual routing and annoying mousing, but in harmor you can Kore all that stuff from the start. damn shame the mac build is meh...aMUSEd wrote:That's strange because for me it's Harmor that has exactly the deficiencies you are ascribing to Alchemy - if anything has tons of tabs and menu diving it's Harmor, much more so than Alchemy. Never been able to get into it (plus it's barely stable on Mac).
