All of these track plugins are looking to be very good value.

I was thinking about this one the other day...Dave posted here that the Fairchild isn't really a track comp (implication being it's a bus comp) but then he included the quintessential SSL bus comp in this package. Meanwhile, I've seen the Fairchild used on pianos, vocals, bass, guitars and drum bus. Just funny in a way.

I wonder what Dave plans on adding. I wouldn't mind seeing this expanded with an LA-3A, DBX 160VU (if not too close to the SSL channel comp), 33609 (another that works on tracks and buses), and some obscure stuff thrown in for good measure (Abbey Road-esque Altec compressors, maybe some Chandler gear, etc.).

I'm curious too. But there's like 16 total Model slots (0-15) built into this plugin and right now it's only using 5. Dave may never intend on filling all 16 slots up, and it's totally likely that he just decided to create more than he ever intended on using, but it's a near-certainty at this point that we'll get at least some additions. Will they be free or paid expansions? No idea.

Agreed, I spent a good time A/B this and the UAD G Bus which was on my wishlist for a few months. At the end of it I was happy to remove it from my uaudio wish list.

Yep, this is certainly a plug that will cause me to do a lot of ABing with what I`ve already got. It`s a plug that begs for some experimentation too..

I'm blown away by the quality, 4 modes is overwhelming - I can't contain myself swapping between modes too quickly. I do like limitation, going to take discipline to stay in one area. This is not a criticism as I feel like a kid at Christmas with too many toys to play with. Thank you DMG

This isn't necessarily the case at all, I've no idea why you'd think that. People buying this (or any other) plugin should do so on its current merits, rather than speculation as to how it might develop. These models have taken over a year of development, we have no current plans to add new models.

I'm a noobie and a bit confused by the threshold control on compressors that don't in reality have them.

How do you guys usually end up setting the threshold on the 76 and 2A?

Instead of turning the input up (like on a 2A or 76) just turn the threshold *down* from 0.
You should still be able to just turn the input up on trackcomp, if you want, instead of using the threshold.

Yep.

I've been in the habit of simply using the input on the 76 and 2a models. It works fine.

That should be the case with any plugin (always buy it for what it does today). The reason I thought that is because 1) there's extra slots, 2) Dave mentioned the possibility of adding a 33609 earlier in this thread. Here's the quote (from page 2):

To clarify, he meant he was looking into modelling it, not that it would wind up in TrackComp. The extra slots are to avoid problems in the future if we did add more models, not an implication that we will. Each unit has taken a significant amount of time to model, measure and compare.
