Thats bad on the part of discoDSP frankly. But we've seen disco do things like this in the past and then reverse it later when they figure out from all the complaints it wasnt a good idea. Maybe a general lack of customer focused centrism. A shame some will lose access to their products.
I prefer this approach from discoDSP. And I think it makes a lot of sense considiering the nature of his customer base, which includes me. In other words, I understand the crap software devs have to deal with from customers, it aint fun and I think his apprach to him demeanor on here helps with that by keeping it point-blank and civil, arms-length.

Discovery 5.3 released

The Discovery 5.3 update has resolved a significant issue with the VST2 build that caused the plugin state to reset after saving a project. This means that producers can save their projects without worrying about losing their plugin settings.

Hmm, I just checked and found that the DiscoDSP Bot was able to send me my purchase id for exactly the same thing 10 years ago and then again more recently...I'm not typcally very good at keeping track of such things...but truth be known, when it comes to the next time I blow up a computer accidentally I probably won't be able to find what I need for quite a bit of software (even if I remember that I actually had it in the first place). AND, after having a bit of a play with Discovery Pro, I doubt I would really miss it anyway.

DiscoveryPro is one of my favorite all-time softsynths. Better than Repro5 to me (but not as good as Repro1 to me), for example. Very happy with my purchase last year.jocknaethick wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2023 2:53 pm Hmm, I just checked and found that the DiscoDSP Bot was able to send me my purchase id for exactly the same thing 10 years ago and then again more recently...I'm not typcally very good at keeping track of such things...but truth be known, when it comes to the next time I blow up a computer accidentally I probably won't be able to find what I need for quite a bit of software (even if I remember that I actually had it in the first place). Hello xenophobic, xenophobic wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 5:24 pm Wait y’all going c/r noooooo please clearify the online activation part.
I understand your concern and would like to clarify a few things about the activation process. Since 2018, Discovery has been utilizing online serial activation, and this isn't a new development. The difference is, previously, this was done through the installer which indeed, was inconvenient for users, as it required validation on every install.
We recognized this inconvenience and have worked on refining the process. Our new built-in activation method simplifies things significantly. It generates a unique license key on your local machine which remains valid indefinitely. That means once you've activated, you won't need to enter the key again on every new install. This makes the whole process a lot easier and more user-friendly.
Moreover, it's worth mentioning that this system also introduces an offline activation method. So, even if you don't have internet access at a given moment, you can still proceed with the activation. We believe these changes should provide a smoother, more convenient experience for all our users. I hope this clears up any confusion, but feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Ok there’s an offline option I can work with that will my key work if I upgrade my laptop to a newer model or will I have to generate a new key every time I upgrade?discoDSP wrote: Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:39 amHello xenophobic, xenophobic wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 5:24 pm Wait y’all going c/r noooooo please clearify the online activation part.

I understand why the idea of license activation might seem a bit daunting, especially when you're considering upgrading your hardware. But don't worry, I'm here to help clarify.
In the software world, licenses are often tied to the unique identifiers of a machine, which in this case, is your laptop's UUID (Universally Unique Identifier). This ensures that each license is used on a single machine, enhancing security and preventing piracy.
When you upgrade your laptop, you're essentially changing to a different machine with a different UUID. This change in hardware is recognized by the activation system as a different 'machine,' even though to you, it might be the same in terms of user experience and data. This means you would have to re-activate the software on your new laptop.
But don't worry, the process should be straightforward. You simply need to generate a new key for the new laptop, much in the same way as you did on your current machine. This ensures your license is always tied to the machine you're using.
It's worth mentioning that we've designed the activation process to be as simple and user-friendly as possible. So, even if you're regularly upgrading your hardware, this should not be an overly cumbersome task. I hope this clears up any doubts you had.

I'd love to see Discovery getting some little tweaks from Discovery Pro like opening the program list in the lower display and the small skip back and forward buttons like it already works with the banks. Additionally please be so nice to add that little Help section in the menu where the current plugin version is displayed (it was added to Discovery Pro and OB-Xd as well, and I'm very happy you did !).
Thanks for considering it !

Thanks for the feedback! I totally get where you're coming from with wanting some of the Pro features in the regular Discovery. We'll definitely consider your suggestions and see if there's a balance we can strike. Appreciate your input!

Thanks for considering ! From my point of view it is only changes in the behaviour of certain controls - and you demonstrated well you can do that. I would even go that far to assume it was just forgotten to implement, so the already existing controls are only waiting to get a real function assigned. No Pro features to add to Discovery

Ah, I see what you're getting at. So, more of a tweak than adding full-blown Pro features. Gotcha!
