Well... if you read the whole thread, you could have seen that i even argued that EDM is sort of the boogeyman for some, and a "umbrella term" to describe crap in genres which may or not may have to do with it.
And, no, i don't think you'll have to contribute anything to be able to criticize. Music or film critics often didn't contribute anything to their special area, yet mostly have a great idea about what they are talking about. Again, i just can speculate about your point here. I assume you have your period, but, not sure.

My notion of the term EDM is an Americanism, see quote from wiki as in Europe we used to be specific about the genres .. which is so ffng important.

Subsequently, in the new millennium, the popularity of EDM increased globally, largely in Australia and the United States. By the early 2010s, the term "electronic dance music" and the initialism "EDM" was being pushed by the American music industry and music press in an effort to rebrand American rave culture.[4] "Despite the industry's attempt to create a specific EDM brand, the initialism remains in use as an umbrella term for multiple genres, including house, techno, trance, drum and bass, dubstep, and Trap music (EDM) as well as their respective subgenres.

Wish they used term "Banger" instead of EDM, it would fit perfectly.toonertik wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 6:13 pm My notion of the term EDM is an Americanism, see quote from wiki as in Europe we used to be specific about the genres .. which is so ffng important.

banger
If a Song is extremly tight or just unbelivably awesome. It is a banger
Have you heard that new Missy Song? Its a "Banger"
Banger
An intense party, which involves large amounts of drinking, beer pong, and plenty of skanks to grind on. Always leaving the house a total mess.
Guy:Yo cuz, where da Banger at?
Guy2: Banger in Union tonight playboy, where you at?

A logical and well-informed, civilized answer so we may now return to the original intent of the OP. Have to wonder though why EDM haters(@ ckk071,Anx) are posting in an EDM thread.toonertik wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 6:13 pm My notion of the term EDM is an Americanism, see quote from wiki as in Europe we used to be specific about the genres .. which is so ffng important.
