You don't see the contradiction in your statements? i.e. You say you don't need it but, still, if it's not there it is a deal breaker.Karbon L. Forms wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:27 pmOne or two MPE capable synths more than covers ALL my needs. I have Cypher2, Equator, Repro, Diva and the Bitwig Grid and I want for nothing. For simple basslines, I just don't use the MPE if I don't need it. I don't make shouty-beep-metal anyway. IF I do fancy a new synth, it has to have MPE. I am not the market though.

I guess what he means is that he wants the synth to have MPE, but if a given patch doesn't require using it, he just won't use it. But he wants the MPE capability to be there, just in case...

MPE is interesting, but i don't think it has really taken of just yet. As i've mentioned earlier, i'm sure MPE will be the standard in the future. Anyway, most synthesizers, software/hardware does not have MPE implemented.Tj Shredder wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2020 6:22 amIf one does not experience it hands on, its impossible to describe how much it is game changing especially for sound design!Halonmusic wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 6:04 pm MPE is great and all, but it mostly, if not only is made for live/performance, not producing, sound design.
If you have the static idea of sound design, to crate evolving sounds with lfo‘s and enevelopes triggered at a single point in time when you pressed that key in the past...
The first thing I have to get rid of in given presets are these boring lfo‘s which never have the correct timing...
The joy of a played vibrato vs. a predefined vibrato is a huge expressive difference etc...
MPE is live automation on individual voices for those who think its not for production and constructing their tracks. Each voice! If you think polyphonic aftertouch is a good idea, then you want MPE...

I am more interested is it Warlock close to Firebird and Gladiator or Electra and Icarus as structure and sound.
Is it one page, easy to eyes, ears and heart ?
Is it workflow intuitive?
Such stuff and some other...
I'm super exited to touch a better Firebird, but also would b interesting if it is something new, synth market is contrast of nostalgia to good old synths and inspiration when something new is born

I think Warlock is its own synth. Not a Firebird v2. But i could be wrong.

From what Markus explain probably will be similar to Firebird as interface, but way more powerful as functions.
One page synths are super fun for programing

True, but every sale must count in this crowded market, eh? For instance, when Obsession was announced, I already had OB-Xa V, and I was pretty happy with it. When Synapse announced it was adding MPE compatibly, it became a no-brainer. I didn’t even bother trying the demo. Of course, being a happy customer of Dune and Legend made that easy.Halonmusic wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2020 3:56 pmMPE is interesting, but i don't think it has really taken of just yet. My point is, many of us have more software instruments than we could properly explore in a lifetime. I sure do. I used to buy plugins like they were sushi. No longer. You’d better have something special if you want my money. MPE compatibly is one of the things that’ll get me to pay attention.

Good news for Mac users:
There will definitely be a Mac version.
I was able to compile Warlock on the Mac and the VST3 plugin already runs on various hosts.

I think you need to recompile it for ARM now to stay MAC-compatible...Markus Krause wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:06 am Good news for Mac users:

Should not be a big problem to support ARM with this one. So most likely it will be supported.
However I will not recommend the usage of new chipsets for musicians. You should stick with the intel and OSX for a while.
Unlike what Apple advertises I expect serious technical problems with many plugins, hosts and other software

I beta test for a few companies who have been developing Arm stuff and all of them have actually said the opposite, it was suprisingly very smooth.
