An ATC-1 template would be great ... as would one for the SUB37Uncle E wrote: Wed Jan 25, 2023 7:23 am Maybe I can use your templates to build ATC-1 and OB-6 templates off of.
I can't believe the poor quality of midi keyboards today

I thought that my Arturia keylab mkii 49 is the best midi controller. Now, just after two years and very light usage (only home and about one hour daily, light use), it starts fine then after few minutes it just go banana! The main screen dimmed and there is a red light on the 3rd pad. It also constantly sending midi messages to the host and velocity becomes maximum!
I ended to put it aside and using now my Yamaha MODX6 as controller which seems reliable although the keys feel is not great as Arturia's keylab. Anyway, I would never buy an expensive midi controller again! Oh, and my NI M32 keyboard also went banana! And I thought M-audio has bad midi controllers!
I would buy cheap controller (or used old synth/keyboard) and just throw it away when it goes bad! For now, MODX6 seems fine

That would be excellent! Maybe I can use your templates to build ATC-1 and OB-6 templates off of. If you need them, I found templates for MKS-80, MKS-50, and JV-1080.
Sorry, I missed these replies!thecontrolcentre wrote: Thu Jan 26, 2023 12:17 amAn ATC-1 template would be great ... as would one for the SUB37Uncle E wrote: Wed Jan 25, 2023 7:23 am Maybe I can use your templates to build ATC-1 and OB-6 templates off of.![]()

I'm happy with my Nektar Panorama T4. Just got it two days ago. Yes the keys are stiff synth action though they'd have aftertouch. Faders, encoder knows and bend wheels are whyI bought it. The pads are very responsive.
What I don't like is nectarine plug in. For whatever reason when using it with my vsts the sound is distorted.

So there are some great sounds on this Yamaha, but there are also some misses. I realize I really like a saxophone sound...but this one is bad. It does have some good, but the key velocity differences throws off the sound bad. Also the low notes have this fake exaggerated breath before the note, that is annoying. What I'm getting at, is I have been on the hunt for a good orchestra package. In my digging, it looks like physical modeling is the way to go, and SWAM is the ultimate. Problem is that it is $1200 for the complete package. Reading about using sliders for the string effects, I accidentally found it. A guy mentioned Geoshred with GeoSWAM package for IOS. Long story short, I bought both for $115 (sale going now for GeoSWAM)
This thing is amazing, and the best bargain on the planet. The layout works for me, and I'm jamming on this thing. The keyboard is going to have to go back. I found my thing. Edit: ok I should keep the DGX670. Prob got to excited. I'm not that motivated to learn the piano i guess. My brain

Kinh wrote: Tue May 11, 2021 12:51 pm Was at the music store yesterday, excited about buying a new keyboard (for the hell of it) and I was amazed at the crappy quality of the keys on all of em.
The Akai MPK261...Terrible! The keys are wafer thin, not squared off (like Impulse) and they spring back like a diving board..totally unnatural .
Arturia keylab...crap!
The Native Instruments one... also thin and tacky. There's nothing high end about this at all except it's got slightly better action than the akai.
And the bloody Novation sl mkiii, the "flagship" one, flagship my ass, the action is absolute rubbish and the build quality of the keys seems thinner than the akai. Also the keys wobble are are noisy. The Impulse's keys blows them all out of the water, it's solid as a rock, not springy, you can bang the hell out of it and the keys wont snap like these will and that was released 10 years ago! Why couldn't they make the mkiii like that? If I took this thing home I would've snapped a key in under a month. Do they come with replacement keys?
Shit, I was bitterly disappointed. And then there's the supposed "weighted" keyboards like the M-audio hammer. That's not a piano action! It's the same as old freaking church organ, slow and heavy. Id love to see someone play Flight of the Bumblebee on that.
I think Akais and NI controllers are good and better than most hardware keyboards.
if anything took a hit, it is hardware keyboards. alot of mid-tier keyboards don't have aftertouch (Mod x, Prologue). Kronos weighted keyboard while great, has horrible aftertouch. But yeah things like the Montage is nice as far as action.
That said Kurzweil keyboards have my favorite action.

Agreed.
The industry is in a 'race to the bottom', which in my opinion is largely driven by cost cutting measures.

totally agree. the only playable MIDI controllers out there are Native Instruments Komplete, and even they have issues like black keys being much stiffer than white keys

@Justin3am, thanks for your discretion pm'ing me rather than posting.tapper mike wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 10:09 pm I'm happy with my Nektar Panorama T4. Just got it two days ago. For whatever the issue has worked it self out. It may have had to do with other electronics behaving badly. It's an unshielded jungle in here. Also I'd like to apologize to Nektar which I'm a huge fan of.

I think it's personal preference. For example I owned Akai Advance 49, Arturia keylab essential 61 and Nektar Impact LX61 and despite the fact Impact is the cheapest I like the keyboard most. Arturia and especially Akai have are were better built and Akai has superb knobs, but the keyboard of Nektar suits me best. Also I have Roland A-88 controller (first version) and this is just different level, premium full-weight keyboard, expensive, but worth every penny.

It has been about one year, or little bit less, since I bought Novation Lunchkey 49. It's good and I like it. Nothing special about the keys, but the velocity is good. It's a lightweight plastic,
so there is no much to its build quality! There is no aftertouch (which I don't need) and also there is no power button (so I hooked it to a USB powered hub with on off switches!).

I thought of buying a new one to replace Radium61 which is not recognized by Win11 anymore, neither there are drivers for it, but I hooked it with MIDI to RME and now it gets just the power via usb. Works.
Was looking at new m-audio 61 ones first for 250€ or so. No need ... yet.
