32 bitwig. What's that in Euro? :D
Could you please also convert into bitcoins and Thaï baht ? That’s for a friend who doesn’t care.

Lol, someone is saying GR-8 is hard to program??

Barely usable.
You know, this kind of synth is rocket science. I’ve been told the best engineers from the NASA are still trying to get a single sound from it.
I tried myself and only obtained foam. Foam and bubbles. I definitely don’t understand how this plugin is supposed to work.
Bubbles are all around my studio now. WTF Phuturetone ?!?
amateurtools wrote: Wed Aug 25, 2021 5:00 pm I can't use it. Tried to use apply envelope 1 to oscillator 1 and nothing happens because there's no obvious connection between them. Also my eye was busy looking around at the symbolic code-set and trying to reverse engineer how the routing functions, and quickly lost interest in doing that.

the little oscillator switches are fiddly and confusing to the eye.

this is an interface/instrument that seems to require specific learning and memorization tasks as to it's particular workflow. since it is not readily obvious to understand to a veteran synth tinkerer of 20 years, this means that a mental note needs to be remembered by the user in between sessions, which means that it will not likely be used as often as more obvious control interfaces.
But don’t you dare criticize his opinion. Ever.
amateurtools wrote: Wed Aug 25, 2021 5:00 pm just one opinion, so i don't need a critique on my critique for other forum users, this is meant for the developer.
Phuturetone must have had a pretty good laugh.

I see where Whispair won the Dev challenge and GR-8 came in second. I don't understand it at all but hey the people have spoken.

I think a lot of votes for Whispair over gr-,8 are due to full buckets past efforts and overall community involvement with free plugins over a long period of time. Whispair is great but GR-8 is tops.

How can I scale this synth? I have a 3440 x 1440 screen and GR-8 is small.
Thanks!

AFAIK, you can't.

But there are two resolutions in the manual install folder. normal and @2x or the like.

You're right, I don't know if there was an update about this, but here's what the dev said at the time :
Phuturetone wrote: Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:31 pm Yes, I wish there's the resize feature too. The platform that I'm using for plugin development still doesn't support resizable windows. One solution would be that I make the plugin in 2 more sizes, then a user would load the preferred size. Just a theory for now.

BTW, how much wider/taller GR-8 would need to be to fill your screen the way you prefer it?

Thanks,
Sasha
Maybe the plugin automatically loads one or the other size depending on your settings. I have no idea.

Something magical has happened in my computer. GR-8 had been taking forever to initialise the GUI, as in a good 10 seconds after you press the button, but suddenly it's started popping into existence almost instantaneously. I can only put it down to a new graphics driver for my GeForce card, which installed itself last week, because nothing else has changed. It's a fair dinkum miracle because I use GR-8 in pretty much every song.

GR-8 is also one of those rare birds that I actually enjoy patching. It's got so many sweet spots that good sounds practically fall out of it every time I play around with it. I can't believe this thing is free, we are so lucky.

OK, this is a really big call but I am ready to make it - GR-8 is my favourite synth. Possibly ever. Including hardware synths. I just love the way it sounds, the way it looks and how easy and gratifying it is to work with.

Wouldn't mind seeing the return of oversampling – even if it's a bounce-only option.

Pah! Totally unnecessary.

Phuturetone flys under the radar as developer. I first heard of him when he released 303, 808 and 909 refills that sounded really convincing using just standard Reason devices. Shortly after that he started releasing NI Reaktor synths and those are all must haves.

GR-8 is currently the best freeware synth imho apart from Vital. Not the most feature packed synth but it is intuitive, usable, and has a really nice sound.
