Oh it's u-he and it has a synth? Means I'll probably buy it if the price isn't crazy.

Yeah, I've had Filterscape for a long time too... very cool to see a GUI update and the filters upgraded to the latest u-he goodness...machinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:15 am I’m biased considering I’ve owned Filterscape since it came out, so I’m super happy to see it finally get an update, the synth version is a great thing,
Plus of course it will be CLAP, M1/2 native, the u-he browser and so on. And also curious to hear how the synth sounds after all this time.

The actual controls of the thing were/are great, IMO the filters were dated pretty quickly and it's always been a sore spot for me that Diva type filters were better and not added years ago, because the actual controls are fantastic. Just to jab at the "editorials" written about it making music simple in this thread, one of my favorite uses I got out of the synth in Filterscape was literally a one note held sub phasing bass type sound with a rising mod wheel as the only "change". In the right part of the song it worked like nothing else.pdxindy wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 5:40 amYeah, I've had Filterscape for a long time too... very cool to see a GUI update and the filters upgraded to the latest u-he goodness...machinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:15 am I’m biased considering I’ve owned Filterscape since it came out, so I’m super happy to see it finally get an update, the synth version is a great thing,

Like I said, I'm biased I even did some presets for it's release etc.

Ah you did? Which of the Filterscape presets were yours, which "author name" did you use?machinesworking wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 5:57 am ...I'm biased I even did some presets for its release etc.
I'm Viktor, the guy at u-he that (among other things) polishes up the old libraries, and I pretty much removed half of the old presets of Filterscape VA for the update, those that were a bit too random for my taste. But we're adding a few new ones too. I could check wether some of yours survived the "purge".

Thinking about it, I think I did some too.. I sent a pack to Urs back when it was originally released, but sadly I sold my license some years agoViktor [TUC] wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:49 amAh you did? I meant composition in the more classical sense of producing an artefact that is reproducible as a performance. But who the f*ck ever cares about what people might be trying to say. Two question spring to mind:elnn wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 4:58 pm I meant composition in the more classical sense of producing an artefact that is reproducible as a performance. But who the f*ck ever cares about what people might be trying to say. Sheesh, the toxicity of this place.
a) what's classic about "producing an artefact that is reproducible as a performance" when it comes to musical composition?
b) what has a) got to do with DAWs?
Musique concréte was/is producing artefacts that are reproducible as a performance, but I would neither call this a classic way of composing, nor did DAWs exist in the 1930s.
So... your subsequent explanation did not really put any more sense into your original claim.
What's with people pulling the victim-card these days whenever highly controversial claims they made get debunked and dismissed?

I know, right?
I first saw it mentioned yesterday in a stunning (IMO) new YT video by ContraPoints. So worth watching IMO but super long and definitely a red flag to many on KVR due to....
ContraPoints' example was a million times better than the Wiki one as it started with the controversial claim from person A, then the (logical) rebuttal from Person B, then the moving of the goalposts from Person A, so common in bad faith arguments.
