The release notes also say "Operability confirmed DAW software* (latest version) * as of July 18, 2024"
So maybe it's due out on the 18th??

Windows 11 will have support for MIDI 2.0 and a host of other enhancements to running MIDI
It should however all be backwards compatible with with Windows 10
By stating you will need Windows 11 from the start Korg is protecting themselves when MIDI 2.0 is only supported on Windows 11

Windows 10 support will end in a bit over a year anyway, it's a dead end.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Not for Windows 10 LTSC users. And right now if you want a stable, reliable DAW on AM4/AM5 and current gen Intel, 10 LTSC is still a very viable and simpler option.

Windows 10 Enterprise long-term servicing channel isn't really intended for using in a DAW Audio Production environment. It's designed for single purpose industrial setups that are static and don't changeblakecasimir wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 12:45 pm Not for Windows 10 LTSC users. How many people running that are Korg Customers?
And if you are skilled enough in Windows Development to use Windows LTSC you will have no issues with Windows 11
I have been using Windows 11 in Audio Production since it was still in BETA, I am amazed at the people who resist it, especially those who say Windows 10 LTSC is a viable option

This will also be backported to W10.

IME, Resistance to Windows11 is first and foremost due to having to buy new hardware to run it. And the need to "future proof", that is, to build a machine that will last more than an eighteen month tech cycle, is a major consideration. Especially since Windows has already announced Windows 12.
Secondly, the amount of control demanded by MS (and Apple), has put many of us on alert to a consumer slavery that makes any free loving human naturally resist.
Sticking with W10 at least milks another couple of years to get more informed on where they're trying to take us.
For myself, I always look to how I can strip and customize these platforms. And if the new order is making that impossible, then I'm rethinking the whole "contract" they're presenting.
I believe any critical thinker would.

Windows 11 will run using 8th generation or newer CPU and mother boards with TPM for securityBBFG# wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:08 pm IME, Resistance to Windows11 is first and foremost due to having to buy new hardware to run it. This means pretty much any Intel or AMD based PC manufactured after the fall of 2017. Now it's very possible someone purchased a bargain basement PC after the fall of 2017 that didn't meet those minimums
But to claim it's an 18 month cycle is just not accurate, especially when Windows 10 has been fully supported and will continue to be into 2025
Windows 12 will have the same requirements according to all available information from Microsoft
Anyone buying a new PC today will continue to have support for both Windows 11 and Windows 12 for many years to come, and of course your old 64 bit will also run just fine

11: Additional bloat, privacy concerns, AI features not desirable in a DAW.
And yes, 10 LTSC is actually very easy to set up and run and works very well for a DAW. Very lightweight by comparison.

I custom built my PC and have Windows 11 customized exactly for my needsBBFG# wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 4:00 pm Still not addressing their control and our ability to customize it though. And my Xeon server still runs circles around most current offerings of tech.
Willing to bet my system (I9, multiple SSD, 64gb of RAM) blows away a Xenon server.
Not sure what this control is you speak of? Unless you mean having minimum requirements for a modern PC to run a modern OS is a bad thing
Should I be pissed I can't run Windows 12 on my old Windows 98 machine I built in 1999?

Exactly. And the control I'm referring to is them putting every piece of unnecessary bloat I've stripped off back at the very next update (which I'd also disabled).blakecasimir wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 4:36 pm11: Additional bloat, privacy concerns, AI features not desirable in a DAW.

But I know many aren't really paying attention to what's being done on those "updates".
BTW, my Xeon server is a double CPU with 68GB RAM and multiple SSDs.
As long as I keep iLok off the system it averages 4%-12% of resources. I doubt that I'll ever go back to the i series.
